Story Plot
As per the title, the story of this superhero drama revolves around a child called Dion. He is raised by a woman whose husband is no more. She becomes a single mother and takes on the responsibility of raising Dion. Her name is Nicole.
During his upbringing, she witnesses some unusual traits in child Dion and becomes surprised by his supernatural capabilities. However, being a mother, she becomes concerned for him and wants to keep his unusual qualities concealed from being exposed to prying eyes. For that, she is helped by her deceased husband’s friend.

Ja’Siah is a loving child with an outgoing nature who loves to have fun. The bug of acting has bitten him since childhood, and he loves it very much. He did justice to his role of Dion and that reflects through his acting.
Alisha Wainwright
Next is Alisha Wainwright. She plays the role of a single mother who raises Dion after her husband’s demise. She was born in 1989 in July, Florida, the United States. Other than her current role as a mother in Raising Dion on Netflix, she has also appeared in Smosh. It was a web comedy on YouTube channel. It came nine years ago.
Alisha had been the guest star in film and TV productions like Lethal Weapon. Not to miss another is Criminal Minds. She also played the character of the werewolf in the television series Shadowhunters. She was in a recurring role in the second season but later made regular appearances in the third season.
Jason Ritter
He plays the character of Pat to whom Nicole approaches for help in keeping the supernatural powers of her son Dion secret. Pat is the best friend of her deceased husband. He is shown as an engineer who works in a biotech firm.

Here also you will find a tragic background when a woman becomes a widow after the death of her husband. But she raises child Dion as a single mother. Soon she discovers that her son has some gifted supernatural powers including getting out of sight. Just like every superhero character is coined by some creator, Raising Dion was also created by American-Chinese creator Dennis Liu. This person is also into filmmaking and writing. Dennis once mentioned the inspiration behind the coining of mother character Nicole. He took an extract from the mother of DC comics’ popular superhero, Superman. Dennis also took some extract of Batman’s guardian Alfred Pennyworth.
He was the one who raised the Dark knight crusader after his parents’ death. According to Dennis, parents play an important role in instilling values in their kids. Had these parents of superheroes not behind their upbringing, then no one would have known about Bruce Wayne or Clark Kent’s future.
And so the character of Nicole got inspired by the mothers of these two most great superheroes (Superman & Batman).
Release Of Raising Dion Season 2
The first season of Raising Dion came two years ago in October. It was aired on the network Netflix with a total of 9 episodes. Now, since it has ended, there are expectations of the new second season. It did get renewed by Netflix in 2020 but got delayed due to production plans. However, now there is a possibility that season 2 might hit the screen in the current year (2021).
