The clothes that come from labels like Chanel, Balmain, Hermes, Gucci, and the like are the very best quality that the world of fashion can offer up. From women’s Ted Baker jackets to men’s McQueen button-downs, designer clothing is the only kind that many fashionistas will allow to grace their bodies.
This could be for any number of reasons: it could be just because they feel that the pieces are more aesthetically pleasing, it could be because they feel the quality is better and the price per wear is justifiable, it could be because they love to be seen in a garment by their favorite designer. Whatever the reason, the world of designer fashion is booming and more incredible designers are joining its ranks every day.

1. Focus On One Designer
If you’re wearing a dress, this is a very easy task, but if not, we can still help you make it work. Though you might be wearing pieces from a few different designers (not everyone is able to dress head to toe in one designer at all times), choose one piece to focus on as the highlight of the outfit. Trying to highlight every piece you’re wearing may come off as too much or a little attention-seeking.
2. Look Out for Up and Comers
There are some classic labels that will never lose their places in the fashion hall of fame. We’re talking Dior, Balenciaga, Prada, and the like. Remember that these world-renowned names were once nobodies too, and someone noticed them as an up-and-comer. It takes years to build a successful and reliable designer brand, but it is never too early to bet on a new luxury designer that you think is worth it. Who knows, you may be getting in on the ground floor of the next Stella McCartney.
3. Be Unique
When wearing designer pieces, particularly ones that are instantly recognizable like, say, a Chanel suit jacket or a Burberry trench, try to style it in a unique way. Of course, there are the classic outfits that we all love and come back to time after time, but dressing a classic and recognizable piece up in a new and interesting way can add a lot of depth to your look and show that you really know what you’re doing. If you’re wearing a piece with the designer’s logo emblazoned across the garment or handbag, partially obscure the logo to add a little mystique. Wear your garments loud and proud, but remember that there is no need to be showy and purposefully display a logo or label: the garments speak for themselves.

While mixing and matching designer garments isn’t always a good bet, mixing and matching your designer accessories always is. Don’t be afraid to create new and exciting looks and go over the top if you’re feeling in the mood. If you’re going with a bright and bold outfit, keep the accessories a little more simple, if the outfit is simple then go as overboard as you want with the accessories.

If you’re buying designer garments, you need to take the time to learn how to care for them properly. Some things are dry clean only, some are hand wash only, and some need to be dried lying flat. Take these instructions seriously or you’ll be looking for replacement garments in the blink of an eye.
