Anime movies are a popular form of art and have occupied a vital place in Japanese media. Be it young or old, anime series have always been everyone’s favorite. Vampire Knight is one such anime television series which is based on Matsuri Hino’s shojo manga series, a comic book, written in Japanese.
The series moves around the dark fantasy characters that portray a real fantasy world for the audience through the fictional characters. The series gained a lot of fan following and remained a hit throughout the year after its release due to its dark fantasy, romance, and supernatural genre.
Its second season Vampire Knight: Guilty was released soon after its first premier. Though there is no clue about the third season as of now, the viewers are expecting it to be released in the coming days. Vampire Knight Season 3: Release Date
The first premiere of the Vampire Knight was aired on April 8, 2008, on Tokyo TV in Japan. The series was released in two drama CDs under the production head Studio Deen and the direction of Kiyoko Sayama. Later on, in the same year, the second season of Vampire Knight i.e. Vampire Knight: Guilty, was released on October 7, 2008.
The series is licensed with the entertainment company VizMedia. If we talk about the release of season three, currently there is no confirmation for any announcement regarding Vampire Knight Season 3. The fans have been waiting for season three for more than a decade and it was rumored to be released after a decade. Well, nothing can be said for sure as of now, but we are all ears to what they say about it in the coming times.
Vampire Knight: The Casting
The three main characters of the Vampire Knight are Yuki Cross, Zero Kiryu, and Kaname Kuran. Yuki Cross, who is the daughter of the headmaster of Cross Academy is a secret guardian of the vampire group and in her early memory, she recalls being rescued by one of the pureblood vampire Kaname Kuran. Yuki has developed a secret crush for the vampire Kaname and later on it gets revealed in the show that Yuki was born as a pureblood vampire.
Kaname Kuran is a pureblood vampire who is a member of the Kuran clan and is a leader of the night class of vampires in the Vampire Knight Series. Kaname shows a noble gesture by saving Zero Kiryu from being punished by Vampire Council and is shown as a wisher of peaceful existence with the human class. The whole vampire class respected his authoritative style of living.
Zero Kiryu, one of the guardians of the vampire group in the night class at Cross Academy, is another main character of the show. Zero is Yuki’s childhood friend and hates the vampire class as one of the vampires had killed his family. Apart from this, Klein Cross is also one of the side characters of the series who played the role of the headmaster of Cross Academy.
Vampire Knight: The Plot
The series revolves around the protagonist Yuki Cross who is engulfed with the trust issues on the vampire Kaname Kuran who rescued her a decade ago. The movie is based on purely fictional comic characters that keep exploring the existence of human-vampire relationships. The plot of the story is set in a boarding school which is meant for an elite class of society. Yuki Cross, the protagonist of the story, and her best friend Zero Kiryu serve as the guardian of the vampire class secretly during the night class of the school.
Zero Kiryu had developed a natural hatred toward vampires as he felt that vampires had destroyed everything dear to him. Yuki Cross was adopted by Kaien Cross who was a headmaster of Cross Academy. Also, Yuki had a secret crush on Kaname Kuran who was a pureblood vampire. Kaname was the reason for Yuki’s volunteering for the night classes of vampires. As the show goes on, Zero ended up killing one of the pureblood vampires and thereby leading to the uncalled punishment by the Supreme Vampire Council. However, he was saved by Kaname Kuran as he took a stand on noble terms to save Zero from the punishment.
Although the noble gesture of the pureblood vampire left the audience surprised, the real intentions of the vampires remain unfolded till the end of the show. The series ends with the revelation of the truth behind all the actions of vampires forcing the viewers to think upon that misplaced trust sometimes may prove to be worse than trusting no one.
Vampire Knights: English Dub
For English movie lovers, there is a dubbed version of this series available too on websites like Anime-Planet. Many great artists have dubbed the English voiceover for this series. The voiceovers of three main artists in English are done by Mela Lee, Vic Mignogna, and Ezra Weisz.
Other Updates
Matsuri Hino’s fictional characters went live in this series and portrayed a mix of conspiracy, class warfare, romance, and tribal war in the Vampire Knight, leading the audience to a new world of fictional drama. The voice artists who did voice-over of the characters were Yui Horie, Mamoru Miyano, and Daisuke Kishio. On July 24, 2009, the Vampire Knight anime was licensed with Viz Media which later released its DVD version on July 20, 2010. The soundtracks of the series contain 30 tracks with the opening and ending theme music and are composed by Haketa Takefumi.
As of 2020, we are not sure about the release of the third season as it has been a decade since we saw the release of the second version of Vampire Knights. However, the fans are disappointed by not receiving any confirmation or announcement regarding season 3 but still, they have kept their hopes high for this popular series. The previous versions of the series have been dubbed in the English language and are also available on Hulu and Netflix.
