Plot:

The show Vampire Diaries follows the life of Elina Gilbert, a teenage girl who suffered the loss of both her parents during an unfortunate car accident and tries to get over it but also has to deal with her irrational brother Jeremy’s serious drug addiction. 

Her life takes a deep turn when she falls in love with a 162-year-old vampire named Stefan Salvatore who suddenly appears amidst the fictional town of Mystic Falls, Virginia. Stefan’s sudden appearance gives rise to tension and suspicion among Elena’s friends. 

Later in the series, Stefan is revealed to be a vampire and also reunites with his long-gone brother after 15 years. As the story continues Elena is protected from various villains by the Salvatore brothers as they are faced with foes who’ve been a nemesis to them for ages.
