Patricia Capone is the granddaughter of American businessman and gangster Al Capone through his only child, Albert Francis Capone Jr. She was born on February 27, 1946, in Dade County, Florida, to Albert Francis Capone and his first wife, Diana Ruth Casey. Patricia Capone was not the only child of her lovely parents; she had three siblings, namely Veronica, Barbara, and Teresa Capone.
Early Life
Patricia Capone and her siblings grew up in Miami Shores. Despite her family being linked to the notorious Capone family, Patricia, her parents, and her siblings did not associate themselves as much with family. Her grandfather had gained notoriety in the Chicago area, but then her family moved to Miami, where they spent most of their childhood. Her parents loved her, and they did as much as they could to ensure their daughters were not associated with the criminal history of the family. Patricia’s father even went to the extent of changing his last name from Capone to Brown to disassociate with the negatives associated with the name.
While growing up, people used to ask Patricia and her siblings questions regarding their grandfather; this often made them very uncomfortable, but fortunately, they had loving and supportive parents who protected them at all costs. Patricia’s father often prepared her and her siblings beforehand, and whenever they were asked awkward questions, they knew how to handle the situation.
When Patricia came of age, she started attending a local school. A few years later, the family moved to California, and Patricia enrolled at Palo Alto for her high school education. Patricia was raised as a Catholic, and her faith sometimes acted as a shield from the derogatory remarks made about her family, especially her grandfather.
Her Parents
Patricia’s parents were kind people, and they met during their high school years when they were both attending St Pat’s Catholic School. They struck a friendship that later turned into a romantic relationship. The couple was happy and were blessed with four beautiful daughters, including Patricia. However, along the way, things did not work out among the two, and they had to separate.
Patricia’s father remarried at least twice while her mother focused on her business as a realtor, and she was passionate about her career. Patricia’s father was sick for most of his later life, and following a brain surgery, he suffered partial deafness.
Her Grandfather
Patricia’s grandfather’s rise to fame happened in the 1920s and 1930s when he was the leader of the Chicago Outfit. Al Capone had a smooth childhood, but when he was 14, things started changing. He started misbehaving, and on one occasion, he hit a female teacher. Following this event, he was expelled from school, and it was hard to gain admission to another school. He started doing odd jobs to be able to meet his daily needs. Along the way, he was involved in illegal activities as he sold drugs on the streets.
Fast forward to 1925, and Patricia’s grandfather became the leader of the Chicago outfit, which he served until his arrest in 1931. Al Capone was serving an 11-year prison time when his health started deteriorating. Patricia’s grandfather died of a heart attack secondary to a stroke.
