Ricki Lake is happiest when she is with her two sons, but she has many reasons. Her ex-husband, Rob Sussman, has custody of her two sons, Milo and Owen. Three years after their wedding in 1994, the Broadway star and the illustrator created a family with their son.
Early Life of Milo Sebastian Sussman
Milo, their eldest son, was born in 1997, and Owen, their youngest son, was born in 2001. After several years of co-parenting, Ricki and Rob decided to quit in 2004. When Ricki became a mother after her divorce, she experienced the highs and lows of the job. She observed that the most challenging element of being a coparent was not being the center of attention.
Fortunately, Ricki focused on providing her sons as much “normalcy” as possible during their childhood. The Emmy Award-winner admitted that it paid off while chatting with Hometown Life. “My children are grounded and have a sense of the broader picture,” she remarked.
Relationship Life of Milo’s Parents
The Ricki Lake Show alum went on to marry her second husband, Christian Evans, in 2012, and the late jewelry designer helped a bit with her growing kids. The couple was together for three years before going their separate ways in 2015.
Tragically, Christian died two years later in 2017 by suicide at age 45. Following his death, Ricki claimed People she was doing everything she could to “save him” from his fight with bipolar disorder.
Ricki, who started dating Jeff Scult in 2019, is now focusing on being a mother to her two young children while juggling her Hollywood career and her relationship with Scult. The Mrs. Winterbourne actress declared that her “two boys” would always be her most significant accomplishment despite her achievements.
She revealed with Hometown Life that “they are turning out to be remarkable people.”
Birth and Education of Milo Sebastian Sussman
On March 22, 1997, Ricki and her ex-husband, Rob, became parents for the first time when their son Milo was born. He hasn’t yet followed in his mother’s footsteps, but Milo has already achieved a great deal in his twenties. According to Ricki’s social media post, he graduated from Oberlin College in May 2019 with a Bachelor of the Arts degree.
Even though Milo hasn’t said he wants to be an actor, he enjoys making music. Ricki shared a photo of her son spinning records on a turntable for his upcoming birthday in March 2020. In addition to the images, the mother wrote a heartfelt tribute to her eldest son.
Happy birthday to Milo, my 23-year-old son! But even though this wasn’t how I had planned to celebrate [your] special day, I am grateful to be with you,” she wrote. “Look at him, he’s producing melody out of [lemons]. Our time spent in London and Venice, Italy, brings back many fond memories of simpler times. “I love you to the moon and back, my beautiful son.”
Owen Tyler’s Sussman
Owen was Ricki’s second child, born on June 18th, 2001. Owen, who goes by his middle name Tyler, is a regular on his mother’s social media accounts. Like Milo, it appears he enjoys music as well. In May of this year, Ricki shared a sweet throwback shot of her sons jamming with late singer-songwriter Allee Willis. She wrote on Instagram, “Going through old pics and found this gem.” Incomparable @alleewillis and my lads in her recording studio. “It was a fantastic day.”
