Jacqueline Lavinia Jackson is the daughter of American activist and author Jacqueline Jackson. Her father is Jesse Jackson, who served as a shadow senator for the District of Columbia from 1991 to 1997. Jacqueline Lavinia Jackson was born in 1975 as the youngest daughter of the younger couple. She has four siblings: brothers Jesse Jackson Jr, Jonathan, and Yusef, and an older sister named Santita Jackson. Jacqueline also has a half-sibling named Ashley through her father following his relationship with political scientist Karin Stanford.
Personal Life and Education
Jacqueline Lavinia Jackson has kept a low profile compared to her older siblings, who have served in various positions in the American political landscape. She has managed to keep most of her details away from the spotlight, and it is hard to tell what is going on in her life. However, she is probably married and has kids; it is just that she has kept this information away from the public.
Just as she kept a low-key on her personal life, Jacqueline Lavinia Jackson has not revealed much about her educational background. However, given the kind of family she comes from, she must have attended the best schools in the United States, and her lowest educational level is college. For instance, her older brother Jesse Jackson Jr attended the North Carolina State University.
Her Brother Jesse Jr
Jacqueline’s brother served as Illinois’s congressman from 1995 until 2012, when he resigned following health concerns. Before serving as a US representative, Jesse Jr worked under his father in various positions, and he molded him into becoming an important political figure in Illinois.
As a US representative, Jacqueline’s brother had an outstanding record as he never missed a single meeting. He almost missed his great-grandmother’s funeral due to his commitment and ambition to maintain his perfect track record. In 2012, after serving in Illinois’s assembly for nearly two decades, Jesse Jr resigned. He had cited physical and mental issues as the reason for his resignation.
It was later determined that he had gastrointestinal problems and bipolar disorder. Besides his health concerns, Jacqueline’s brother was also under investigation for campaign fraud, for which he had to resign to allow investigations to proceed appropriately. In February 2013, Jesse Jackson Jr pleaded guilty to mail fraud, for which he was sentenced to thirty months in prison. While in prison, Jacqueline’s mother wrote and sent letters to her son.
Her Parents
Jacqueline Lavinia Jackson’s parents met awkwardly; when Jesse Jackson first saw Jacqueline Jackson, he worked towards her and told her that he was going to marry her. Jacqueline was surprised, given that, at the time, she did not want to become a mother or even get married. A few years down the line, the two got married and have been together for over sixty years.
Jacqueline’s father served as a senator for the District of Columbia; besides, he is an activist, and he has followed the teachings of Martin Luther King Jr. Her mother, on the other hand, is an activist and author; some of her writings include a compilation of letters she wrote to her son Jese Jr while in prison.
