How to Care for a Tattoo

Did you get a new tattoo? Well, congratulations. Now comes the difficult part where aftercare comes into the picture . This article contains detailed instructions on how to care for new tattoos as well as tips on how tattooed skin can look young and healthy. Start by having the ink cleaned and massaged before and after each new work of art, and have a tattoo cream applied every day before you see it for yourself.

If you get tattooed by an artist, wrap the tattoo in cling film to protect it for the first few days, keep bacteria away and prevent rubbing. It is recommended to wash the area of the tattooed skin with warm water. For optimum results, apply a thin layer of water to the skin for the first few days and rub it in.

Depending on your skin, wash 2-3 times a day with water, detergent, or soap. Apply antibiotic ointment and moisture. To ensure that the bandages covering the tattoo are removed, the artist wraps the tattoo and washes it with antibacterial soap and lukewarm water. You should also wash the tattooed area three times a day with antibacterial soaps and warm water.

If you want to touch the tattoo after applying an ointment, wash your hands with lukewarm water and soap for at least 20 seconds. It is best to wash the tattoo with clean fingers and not with a cloth or towel, which can irritate the skin and remove any scabs.

Care for a Tattoo

During the healing process, blisters can form on the surface, which is not common, but occurs. So stop using the ointments, as the moisture can penetrate and lead to possible scabs, and you want your tattoo to dry out.

Your new tattoo must be kept clean, and the skin should be kept moist throughout the healing process. Your artist should not wear sterile gloves or use a new sterile needle to disinfect the skin after coloring. If you apply enough ointment to cover the tattooed area, be sure not to cover the tattoo again, as the skin inhales and absorbs it.

Tattooing products such as tattoo ointment should be applied three to four times a day and it is recommended that the first week wear loose clothing to avoid extreme skin friction. Soap-free or aftercare ointments will help your skin recover from the wound. Make sure to maintain your tattoo by applying A & D ointment and cleaning your hands at all times.

The most important advice is to cover the tattoo for the first 2-5 hours and wash with lukewarm water and mild liquid soap such as Carex. Clean the area with unscented antibacterial soap and warm water. Dab it off with a clean towel or air dryer, and then apply your Aftercare Ointment as described in the Care for Your Tattoo section on this page.

Once the tattoo is completed, the tattooist should moisturize the skin and apply plastic wrap or bandages to the spot. Depending on the type of bandage and aftercare you take during the healing process and your tattooist’s instructions, bandages designed to protect fresh wounds should be removed within 3-24 hours of the ink ending and you should be back in the chair.

The original bandage that your tattooists use should be wrapped around you after ink treatment and removed within two to three hours of completion, as your artist recommends.

Apply an aftercare cream to clean your tattooed area and trust the tattoo soaps to ensure that your skin condition returns to normal. Formulated with tattoos in mind, apply two to three times a day as your new tattoo heals, and use it to moisturize your tattoo.
