In this article, we will explore the different ways you can decorate your home using ribbons. This is a surprisingly versatile item that has many uses in home décor.

You might be surprised to learn how many everyday household items are decorated with ribbons! To get started, let’s look at some of the most popular ways people use ribbons in their homes.

Lampshade using Satin Ribbon

Ribbons and cording glued to the bottom of lampshades can make them look professionally decorated without expensive or elaborate materials. When you’re gluing the ribbons onto a lampshade, work from the back, and both stop at whichever side of the shade is most hidden. Lampshade with satin ribbons is a chic way to cover up any imperfections or discoloration on the shade.

In addition, you can use single-faced satin ribbon as a decorative accent by gluing them near the top of your lampshade and tying them around with ribbon bows. If you’re feeling creative, there’s also an opportunity for complete customization! Simply glue strips of fabric onto the inside of your shades and affix ribbons in various colors. You could even try adding embroidery stitches using contrasting thread if desired-just. Be sure not to go overboard so that it looks good from afar too.

Ribbon borders are another popular choice for home decorating ideas using ribbons: they offer high contrast without being overwhelming or cluttered.

Curtain Ties

Instantly styling your bedroom is as easy as using the right curtain tie and adding bright colors to it. For a more sophisticated look, finish your project by neatly tying the ribbons at each end of the curtain rod with small bows. You may be surprised to find how beautiful a decorative curtain ties this type can be.

From stunning curtains to inspiring pillows, ribbons can turn your home’s interior into a more beautiful space. These are only three of the many DIY items you can create to decorate your home, no matter what level you might be at with décor. There are a lot of things you can do with ribbons. You could make them into curtain ties or cover lamps with decorative ribbon. Curtain ties can be made from ribbons that are either satin or metallic. Satin is more elegant and will add an extra touch of glamour.

When tying the curtain tie with small bows at each end of the rod, make sure you use two tassels (or any other decoration) on both ends for an excellent finishing detail.

Pillows and Ribbons

Cut a length of ribbon and position it on the edges of your pillow or sham using clips. Work with ribbon that’s 1 to 1.5 inches thick, which may also come in widths ranging from 1/8″ to 3″. Ensure to remove the insert from the pillow before you start work and replace it with cardboard to avoid glue leaking. When shopping for ribbon, you should have a sample of the patterned material on hand to ensure that the color matches.

Ideas for ribbon edges on pillows:

  • Fabric ribbons in a coordinating color with the pillow’s fabric are most popular
  • A contrasting color patterned ribbon that highlights the design detail should work nicely, too. Consider using different colors as well or stripes of varying widths
  • Ribbon rosettes can also make lovely accents when they’re pinned onto the edge of your favorite throw pillow. This is best done by placing them about every three inches from each other around the circumference of your cushion cover (or sham). You might want to use pins instead of clips, so you don’t have any risk of damaging your pillow.

Gimp Walls

The quickest DIY project for nearly any room and one of the easiest ways to add color or texture! A simple decoration technique that adds a luxurious touch is to glue ribbon directly to the wall all along the top of baseboards and just below the crown molding. This decoration is appropriate for walls made of any fabric, painted, or wallpapered. You can also add satin bling to your gimp, nail by nail, for a more masculine tailored touch. Gimp walls can be as plain or elaborate as you like.

Lay the ribbon along any straight edge, such as a wall molding, and nail it in place with small finishing nails. This decoration technique is best for ribbons that are thin enough to see through both sides of the fabric.

Gimp walls can be created using thin strips of silk fabric (the same type used for window treatments) instead of satin or velvet ribbons – tie lengths together onto pins before nailing them into position close to one another up high on your wall’s baseboard moldings near the ceiling line. If desired, use one color throughout all rooms in your home, so colors always coordinate.

Conclusion

In this article, I have covered a variety of home decorating ideas using ribbons. These are just some of the ways you can use these beautiful materials to make your place feel more like a home that is uniquely yours!

The most important thing about all of these techniques and projects is that they’re easy enough for anyone – even those with no crafty or creative skills – to accomplish. So get out there and start making your house into something special by adding ribbon touches here and there!
