Health Goals: How Do You Set and Commit to Them?

There are many reasons that you might need PIE laser treatment (also known as เลเซอร์รอยแดงสิว in Thai) to reduce inflammation and restore skin health. These include genetics, food and drinks consumed, and unhealthy habits. If your acne-prone skin isn’t hereditary, then it’s likely caused by unhealthy habits and diet. Time to set realistic goals to achieve overall health.

Why does this matter?

You know for a fact that it’s important to stay healthy, but ensuring that your body functions to its optimal best isn’t always that easy.

  • Medical conditions and other issues can ruin your goals and even discourage you from working towards achieving them.
  • Making healthy choices is easier said than done. Some temptations are too hard to resist, even when you know the negative effects of obesity, you still choose to eat processed foods and snack frequently.

If you set SMART health goals and commit to them, you can avoid any obstacles to being healthy inside and out. You can also minimise the risk of disease and other medical conditions.

How do you set and achieve health goals?

Know and understand your why

If you truly want to be healthy, it’s not enough to just think that you want to change your habits. You have to have the resolve to change your ways, and the best way to get it is to know the real purpose behind your plan.

  • Why do you want to be healthy in the first place?
  • Are you doing it for yourself or to please someone else?
  • Do you want to lose weight to live longer and see your children grow?
  • Do you need strength to fight the disease you’re currently suffering from?

If you understand the intention behind every health goal on your list, you won’t give up at the first sign of a problem.

Understand how habits are created

Your unhealthy habits didn’t happen overnight, and replacing them wouldn’t be quick and easy either. That’s the fact you have to accept.

  • It takes more than two months for a behaviour to become a habit or a part of your routine, according to research. It may even take longer depending on how consistent you are in repeating the same behaviour.
  • Repetition, consistency, and patience are valuable ingredients to achieve long-term success with your heart goals.
  • Through repetition, you make it easier over time for your brain and your body to follow healthy habits that will take you closer to your goals.

Set the right goals

And the right ones are specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, and time-bound or SMART. Any other types of goals would lead to failure.

  • Specific and clearly detailed: You don’t want to be more active, but to run for half an hour, five days a week.
  • Easier to measure and meet: You don’t just want to lose weight, but to lose 10 pounds by September.
  • Attainable rather than impossible: Don’t force yourself to walk five miles if you can only do three without fatigue. Stick with three miles, and celebrate every time you complete this goal without exhaustion.
  • Relevant to your current situation: make sure your goal is important to your life right now, so it’s easier to stick with it.
  • Time-bound and within a suitable time frame: can you safely lose 10 lbs in three weeks, or is a month a better option?

Most importantly, you must choose to commit to achieving your health goals. No matter how SMART your goals are, if you’re not genuinely ready to change your habits for the better, your intention will not carry through. Why not start small, such as changing your habits to ensure healthy skin? Along with reliable skincare services from Aes Astra, you can achieve your goal of glowing skin.
