Great Ways to Live a Healthier Lifestyle

If the truth be known, we could all make a few changes to our lifestyle to improve our general health & well-being; some much more than others. Wherever you live and whatever you do, here are some great ways that you can improve your health.

  • Drink tea – Many Singaporeans drink chamomile tea, not just because of the delicious taste, also for the health benefits that are known to come from regular consumption of tea. A hot cup first thing in the morning and an iced tea with lemon after lunch is just what the doctor ordered and with the leading tea supplier only a few mouse clicks away, you can order your favourite tea. Order a mixed selection and sample many different teas from all over the world, then you can order your favourite in bulk to save some money.
  • Get on your bike – Invest in a decent mountain bike and explore the local countryside, which helps you to stay fit; cycling uses all the major muscle groups and with the right bike, you can easily ride 50km. Check out the local cycling trails that run through the forested areas in Singapore; Google ‘cycling routes in Singapore’ and take a look at the many trails. Why not join a riding group (see Facebook groups)? It is so much fun to ride in a big group and you meet like-minded people.
  • Take up yoga – This ancient Eastern art was brought to the West in the 1970s and it quickly grew in popularity; yoga develops the practitioner physically, mentally and spiritually and there are numerous types of yoga. Start by watching a few YouTube videos that introduce the practice and then acquire a yoga mat and some loose-fitting clothes and you are good to go. Learning to meditate is a good way to reduce the stress of 21st century life and we don’t know of anyone who didn’t get something from practicing the Eastern discipline called yoga.
  • Organic fruit & vegetables – Wherever you happen to live in Singapore, you are never far from an organic farm; find a local one online and order via their website, most offer free delivery and you can order a week’s supply and store it in the fridge. Make delicious smoothies and enjoy healthy drinks instead of drinking soft drinks, which contain sugar and are generally regarded as unhealthy.
  • Quit (or reduce) your alcohol consumption – While we all like a drink now and then, many people tend to overdo it and this can have a negative impact on your health. Of course, the ideal thing to do is quit alcohol altogether but if you think this is a bit too much, how about reducing your intake? Drinking alcohol ages you and it doesn’t do your liver much good either!
  • Vape, don’t smoke – If you simply have to have your daily dose of nicotine, why not vape? This is a much healthier way to ingest nicotine than smoking tobacco and the online supplier has you covered for all things vape-related. Some cool flavours and guess what? You can wean yourself off nicotine by controlling the dosage on your vape device.
  • Think about good stuff – If you’re of the opinion that your thoughts have nothing to do with what happens in your life, think again; quantum physics is showing us that consciousness is fundamental and it is possible to affect outcomes with focused attention. You probably know a few negative thinkers and their lives are one problem after another, while glass half-full people seem to glide through life; could it be that we attract what we think about?
