One of the reasons you have probably invested in a safety razor is that it can last a lifetime. Indeed, they tend to be made from sturdier materials, such as metal. But, one thing you have to realize is that this is only going to be true if you take care of and maintain your safety razor. Otherwise, it is going to have a significantly shorter lifespan, as well as you having to pay for blades more often than you need to.

So, how do you clean a safety razor? This is something that is relatively simple when you know how. Let’s take a closer look at what you need to do.

Why Do You Need to Clean a Safety Razor?

Are you not convinced that you have to clean a safety razor? Well, the truth is, this is essential if you want to achieve the best shave, yYou can experience skin sensitivity if you do not clean a safety razor regularly. This includes suffering from a rash or irritation. When there is rust on a blade, it can drag on the skin. It can also mean that bacteria can build up, which could result in an infection. This is the last thing you want.

What’s more, you want to ensure that you can get use out of the blades and enjoy value for money. If you do not clean the safety razor, rust can appear. This is a grooming tool that can last a long time. But this is only true if you are going to take care of and maintain it. For example, Cut Throat Club offers safety razors made from the finest materials. This includes solid metal. So, you want to maintain them properly so that you can enjoy a close shave and make the most out of your grooming tools.

How Regularly Should You Clean a Safety Razor?

You want to make sure you are cleaning the razor after every use. This is going to get rid of any hairs that remain in the blades and prevent rust from developing. The cleaning is going to be easiest this way and not feel like such a chore.

Simply, all you have to do is wash the razor under warm water. Then, make sure you use a dry towel to remove any water from the blades. You can store the razor away for the next use. This quick way to maintain the razor will take less than a few minutes, yet help to maintain the tool for a long time.

To deep clean your safety razor, you can remove the blades. This is going to get the hair or debris that is behind them. Again, you can wash them under warm water. Make sure that you dry it properly before putting the blades back on. Of course, make sure you are very careful when you are handling the blade. You should run it under water but do not try to scrub it with your hands. This is how you can end up with an injury. Simply use the pressure of the water to clean the blades.

Normally, it is not necessary to use any cleaning products on a safety razor. This could damage the materials it is made from. If you are in doubt about a product, you can always ask the brand to provide you with more information on how you can clean them.

When Do You Replace the Blades?

You will have to change the blades on some safety razors. The truth is, only you are going to know when to do this. For example, you will start to feel that the blades are getting blunt when you are shaving. This could be after around five to six shaves. So, if you are shaving every day, you may have to change them once a week. Again, the more you clean your razor and the blades, the longer they are going to last.
