How To Clean Pet Hair From Your Car

Many people find cleaning pet hair from their vehicles extremely hard. However, if you know a few simple tricks, it’s as easy as 1,2,3. Today, I’ll show you a quick way of removing pet hair from your car, which is one of the most important interior detailing tips you should learn.

The best thing is that you don’t need expensive tools or products. It’s straightforward and, more importantly, budget-friendly.

The worst part is cleaning pet hair from car carpets, seats, and seat covers. I’ll pay specific attention to that since anyone knows how to clean pet hair from door plastics, dashboards, etc.

Step 1: Vacuum As Much Hair As You Can

The first step is always vacuuming. Without proper vacuuming, you can’t do a lot. To successfully vacuum as much hair as possible, I like to use narrow vacuum attachments, which translates to more suction power.

Also, avoid using handheld, battery-powered car vacuums. In most cases, they’re complete crap. You can get great vacuums on Amazon, and most of them cost less than $100.

While vacuuming, I also recommend you use a stiffer brush. By brushing the carpets and other upholstery, the hair will unstick from the fibers, making it easier for the vacuum to suck it up.

Also, make sure to make criss-cross patterns with your wand, that way, you’ll be able to pick up more hair since you’ll vacuum from different sides of fibers.

Step 2: Use a Pet Hair Remover

Pet hair removers weren’t so good in the past. Luckily, there are fantastic new products such as this Analan Mini Pet Hair Remover, which removes all the pet hair from car seats and carpets in no time.

It would be best if you always used pet hair removers after the vacuuming stage. Using them straight away won’t be so effective since dealing with too much pet hair isn’t possible.

Just sweep the brush over the carpet and collect all the hair in a pile. To get even better results, keep the remover angled a bit.

When all the pet hair is in a pile, just vacuum it again, and you’re done. Now you should have spotless car carpets, seats, and floor mats.

Why Is It Hard To Remove Pet Hair From Your Car?

Pet hair is mostly pretty stiff, even though we sometimes think that it’s exceptionally soft. Car mats, carpets, and seats are often made of fabric, and pet hair tends to trap in-between fibers, making it hard to remove.

With the tips I shared above, removing pet hair from the car is pretty easy, and I think that anyone can do it in just a few minutes.

In conclusion, I would say that removing pet hair from your car isn’t complex if you follow the proper guidelines and use the right tools.

How To Prevent Pet Hair Buildup?

There are a few tips I can share that will prevent pet hair from building up in your car. Of course, it’s impossible to prevent it completely, but at least you won’t have thousands of hairs trapped into car carpets, seats, mats, and other upholstery.

  1. Brush your pet regularly. This is probably the most important advice I can give you. By regularly brushing your pets, their hair won’t fall so much in your house, car, and other places you usually go to with your pets.
  2. Vacuum your car weekly to prevent pet hair buildup. If you neglect your car for a long time, it’ll be extremely hard to clean all the hair that has accumulated over that long period of time. I like to clean my car every week, so I only have to clean a few hairs here and there.
  3. Don’t let your pets jump all over the car. I may sound rude or strict, but you should teach your pets to act nice while driving in your car. I only allow my dog to sit in one place and never let him jump or play inside the vehicle. If they’re still, their hair won’t fall much, keeping your car clean for longer.
  4. Think about investing some money in rubber floor mats. Rubber floor mats are extremely easy to clean and maintain, especially concerning pet hair. Of course, some hair will still end up beneath them, but most of the hair will stay on the rubber.
  5. Buy a pet car seat cover. If you drive your pets in your car daily, you should consider buying pet car seat covers. I recommend you buy this <<<<<<<<<<<<<Giomoc Dog Car Seat Cover for Back Seat (PLACE YOUR AFFILIATE LINK HERE)>>>>>>>>>>. It’s pretty affordable and does the job.

Conclusion

I hope that now you know the quick and easy way of cleaning pet hair from your car. As you can see above, the equipment needed only cost a few bucks (less than a pack of cigarettes), and is straightforward to use.

As always, prevention is the key, so make sure to also follow my guidelines on preventing pet hair buildup in your vehicle.

Lastly, I’d like to recommend you one more thing. If you often drive your pets inside the car, I highly suggest that you disinfect it from time to time. It’s positive both for your and their health. From my experience, one of the best products is Nexgen Industrial Strength Disinfectant, which I prefer since it’s completely safe on all car interior surfaces.
