These 8 Alcohol Myths Have No Solid Basis

1. It’s Possible to Drink a Bottle an Hour and Drive Soberly

The truth: Considering the human body’s average alcohol metabolism rate of 20 milligrams per deciliter per hour, someone can’t drink a beer bottle and be sober enough to drive. Even the heaviest of drinkers will not drive safely with a whole beer bottle in their system, so don’t risk; instead, hire an Uber or get a trusted person drive you home.

2. Hangovers Depend on Which you Take First—Beer or Liquor

The density of the hangovers depends on the amount of alcohol you take, not the type. Taking beer before liquor or vice versa doesn’t guarantee you won’t have hangovers. It as well depends on how full your stomach is in the time of alcohol consumption.

3. It’s Healthier to Drink Dark Alcoholic Drinks

7. Eating Before Sleeping Lowers Hangovers

Eating after taking several alcohol bottles and before you go to bed doesn’t prevent hangovers. The body has already absorbed the alcohol, and so eating food won’t change anything at all. You should eat before drinking instead.
