The Haves and The Have Nots is an American crime drama that is written, directed, and executive produced by Tyler Perry. The first season aired last May 28, 2013, making it the first scripted TV series aired on the Oprah Winfrey Network.
The Haves and Have Nots series has a total of 7 seasons. The first season had 36 episodes and ran from May 28, 2013, to June 29, 2014. The second season consisted of 25 episodes, which premiered on January 6, 2015.
The finale was aired on September 22, 2015. The third season had 23 episodes and it aired from January 5, 2016, to September 6, 2016. The fourth season also had 23 episodes and aired from January 3, 2017, to September 12, 2017. The fifth season had 44 episodes and ran from January 9, 2018, to March 19, 2019. The sixth season only had nine episodes and ran from May 7, 2019, to July 2, 2019.
The Haves and The Have Nots Plot
The plot mainly focuses on three families, the Young family, having a poverty-stricken life while the other two, the Harrington and Cryer families, a flourishing one. The setting is in Savannah, Georgia, where the three families coexisted with their different lifestyles.
The Young Family is headed by a single mother named Hanna who works as a maid for the Cryer family. She is also the confidante and best friend of the family matriarch, Katheryn. Another prominent character in the series is another maid in the Cryer family named Celine Gonzales.
The Cryer family, being one of the most prominent families in Savannah, Georgia, is being envied by many people because of their status. However, the complete opposite can be said in their internal lives as their family is lead by a shady patriarch.
Jim Cryer, the head of the Cryer family, lives a careless life and is involved in various affairs. He is also accompanied by his escorts most of the time. His wife, Katheryn, is loyal, responsible, and always aims to be the perfect mother. Their son, Wyatt, lives a troubling life and juggles life between a rehabilitation center and their home. Their daughter, Amanda, is a law student who also have her own struggles.
The Young family is headed by Hanna Young, the maid of the Cryer household and the best friend of Katheryn. Her daughter, Candace Young, is a manipulative person who befriends Amanda with the hope of destronying the Cryer family after discovering she is the daughter of Jim Cryer and one of his escorts. Her hatred mainly comes from the fact that the other children of Jim are living a luxurious life while she is in poverty.
While the three families have different lifestyles when it comes to social status, economics, and surroundings, they are somewhat similar in the sense that they have extremely flawed lifestyles.
The cast in this show is a mix of races, one of the rich families is African American while the other is Caucasian American. The poor family is also African American while the other housemaid is Hispanic.

The latest season, season 7, has a total of 20 episodes. The first half aired from January 7, 2020, to March 10, 2020. The remaining half is yet to be aired and there is no official date yet. However, there are already news circulating that the series will most likely be renewed for another two seasons. So, we can definitely expect more of The Haves and Have Nots in the coming years!
