Throughout the history of cinema, costume jewelry has been a staple in completing the look of iconic characters. They may seem like small pieces that will go unnoticed, but think about it: many movies are known for their stunning jewelry pieces. The accessories or gems you remember from film are over-the-top pieces that scream opulence and luxury.

These jewelry pieces inspire people and businesses to follow suit. Fans of these films are looking for replica of these pieces that they can wear. Businesses are using jewelry photo retouching services to hold a candle to these iconic statement pieces.

Although popular productions like “The Queen’s Gambit” and “Emily in Paris” made headlines for their gorgeous fashion moments, the most memorable fashion scenes on-screen often involve eye-catching pieces of jewelry.

In this article, we’ll discuss the most breathtaking jewelry moments in films – the piece, why we love the piece and what made it so iconic.

Titanic

When you think of James Cameron’s blockbuster “Titanic,” your mind recalls dozens of moments from the film. From “Draw me like one of your French girls” to the band playing their last before the ship sank, “Titanic” is a goldmine of iconic scenes. But one of the most memorable scenes from the film is any scene that showcased “The Heart of the Ocean.”

Kate Winslet’s Rose wore a blue heart-shaped diamond necklace known as “The Heart of the Ocean.” In the movie, the 56-carat diamond was said to have originally belonged to King Louis XVI. Rose’s unwanted fiancé Cal gifted her with the necklace to win her favor. At the end of the film, an older Rose drops the necklace into the ocean.

In reality, the necklace was created by London-based jewelers Asprey and Garrard. The necklace was made with a blue cubic zirconium set in white gold. Costing approximately $10,000, this necklace was used only in two of the scenes due to its monetary value. Today, this version of the necklace is part of the Twentieth Century Fox’s archives.

Titanic Jewelry

In total, there were three necklaces used throughout filming: one in the exterior, one in the ships in the interior scenes of the ship and another one for the ending. The third version of the necklace was auctioned at a museum in 2003. Celine Dion, the singer behind Titanic’s iconic theme song “My Heart Will Go On,” was spotted withher version of the necklace.

Breakfast At Tiffany’s

In 1961, the movie “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” made the whole world fall in love with Audrey Hepburn’s Holly Golightly. The story of a girl who just wants her blue box from Tiffany & Co became the go-to movie for lovers of fashion, New York City and expensive jewelry.

Each piece of Holly’s ensemble celebrates the femininity and sophistication of young, cosmopolitan women like her. In one of the movie’s most memorable scenes, Holly – in her iconic little black Chanel dress and sunglasses, complete with coffee and croissant in hand – looks at a window and stuns the viewers with her gorgeous pearl necklace with a diamond brooch from Tiffany & Co.

The layered pearl necklace was designed by Roger Scemama, a famous designer who has worked with many major brands, including Yves Saint Laurent and Dior. Holly’s necklace, named Rhapsody, has an estimated cost of $3,500,000.

Anna Karenina

Fans of Keira Knightley know how much the actress loves Chanel. Knightley is strongly attached to the luxury brand that when she was cast in the 2014 adaptation of “Anna Karenina,” she asked Chanel to provide them with the accessories. To explain her request, Knightley said her character Anna Karenina is a vain woman with an expensive taste for fashion, particularly in jewelry.

The jewelers enjoyed the collaboration so much that they created a special collection. The collection, called the Chanel Haute Joaillerie, features several pieces from the film, which includes earrings, brooches, bracelets and necklaces. The most memorable and expensive item in the collection is the Camelia Poudre diamond necklace, which costs $2,000,000. It ismade in a traditional Chanel style, complete with Coco Chanel’s favorite blossoms on each side.

Princess of Monaco

When thinking of fashion and royalty, the late Princess Diana comes to mind. However, Grace Kelly, Princess of Monaco, should also be on your list. In 2014, the movie adaptation of her life, Nicole Kidman takes on the role of Grace Kelly. In “Princess of Monaco,” Kidman recreated Kelly’s signature 1950s jewelry, which included exact copies of the princess’s original Cartier jewelry. The most expensive piece of the collection is a 1955 necklace, which consists of three diamond strands.

Film princesses, Disney princesses, iconic female characters – we all remembered them for their jewelry. How about you? What’s your favorite jewelry moment in cinema history?
