Brooklyn 99 has been one of the most successful series of the decade. It revolved around a group of detectives in Brooklyn’s 99th Precinct. They gather to solve different cases (criminal cases) in the city. The series featured Andy Samberg, Melissa Fumero, Terry Crews, Stephanie Beatriz, Andre Braugher, Joe Lo Truglio, Chelsea Peretti in prominent roles. It was directed by Dan Goor and Michael Shur.
The series has created a wide fan base and admirers of the show have been waiting for its eighth season. Breaking the ice about the same, NBC revealed that there will be a delay in the release of the show due to COVID-19. With it came, another sad news that said, the eighth season of the show would be its last season. Talking about the same, Dan Goor asserted, “I feel incredibly lucky to have worked with this amazing cast and crew for eight seasons. They are not only among the most talented people in the business, they are all good human beings who have become a family. But most of all, I feel lucky that we have had the best fans in the world. Fans who literally saved us from cancellation. Fans who fill us with joy. Ending the show was a difficult decision, but ultimately, we felt it was the best way to honour the characters, the story and our viewers. I know some people will be disappointed it’s ending, but honestly, I’m grateful it lasted this long. Title of my sex tape.”

Initially the series was produced by Fox network. They produced the first five seasons of the series. The 6th, 7th and the 8th seasons were produced by NBC.
During the making of the first season, Fox had allowed the making of only 13 episodes, but during the process, allowed 22. After the release of the 5th season, Fox called off the contract. In a period of a few days, the series was joined by NBC, providing them slots to air.
Story plot
“Content is king!” A statement we’ve all heard of. Talking about Brooklyn, content has really outshone the other series.
The story is based in New York City and revolves around a group of detectives. Captain Raymond Holt is the leader of the detectives and is quite serious and strict in nature. Another character is Jake Peralta, who isn’t very disciplined by nature and is rather carefree, but still holds the most number of solved cases in his kitty. His love interest, Amy Santiago is a geek. She loves to read and has a lust for knowledge. She has a world of her own, which eventually, Jake becomes a part of.
Charles Boyle is also a part of this detective team. He is extremely hard-working and shy. Charles falls for Rosa Diaz, who is completely opposite to his character. She is aggressive, and a bit insensitive too. Michael Hitchcock and Norm Scully, are also a part of the series and are lazy detectives, who haven’t accomplished much in their career, apart from being the detectives that they are. If you still compare the number of cases, solved by each of them, Hitchcock and Scully are the ones that win. They are elderly and have spent more time on duty, therefore increasing their score.
Sergeant Terry Jeffords, is one of the most lovable characters on the show. He is giant and yet one of the sweetest men. A family man that suffers from a fear of returning to duty and being killed. He does not want his family to suffer his death and his children to become orphans, thus the fear keeps in haunting him. Another character is Gina Linetti. She is a Civilian administrator and loves to dance. She is unhappy with her life and feels that her job isn’t very productive towards her. Therefore, she wishes to follow her passion and often finds herself lost in the Social media.

Release date
The release date of the eighth season of Brooklyn 99 hasn’t been announced yet. However the makers did inform that there would be a delay in airing the eighth season, since due to covid, the shooting was postponed. They also declared that the eighth season might be released in late 2021 or early 2022. What came as sad news was that it was going to be the last season of the series.
