Magnum TA Car Crash
Allen, famous as Magnum TA, was involved in a car accident on October 14, 1986. Allen was driving his Porsche before he lost control and struck a telephone pole. The accident happened in Charlotte near his home, and initially, investigators attributed the accident to overspeeding.
Magnum was left in the car for two hours before the witness called for help. Forensic reports concluded that he was driving within the required speed limit, but the accident caused his vertebrae to explode.
Magnum’s right side of the body was paralyzed for months, and it was unclear if he would ever walk again. Due to many months of paralysis, Magnum was forced to retire from the ring at an early age.
At the time of the accident, Magnum was going to win the US title for the third time before being groomed for the NWA World Heavyweight Championship. As a result of his retirement, he worked as a commentator for NWA, UWF, and WCW. Moreover, he served as Rhodes and Koloff’s manager during their careers.
Courtney’s Husband’s Career Achievements
Courtney has been with her husband throughout his journey outside the ring. Allen started wrestling with National Wrestling Alliance, using his name before he moved to Mid-South, where he changed his name to Magnum TA.
Magnum found great success as a wrestler working in Mid-Atlantic Championship wrestling, and his career was taking a good turn. He had won the US title two times, and the 1986 accident prevented him from achieving other titles in wrestling.
He still made a name for himself outside the ring by managing Sting and Lex Luger, which enabled them to win the 1988 championship. Moreover, he worked as a commentator after the accident.
