Pandora

Pandora is a name that has a Greek origin. The name means “all gifts”. 

Pandora, in Greek mythology, was offered a box that contains all of the evils of the world. She was told to not open the box. 

Unluckily, Pandora was a curious person and opened it. Then, the box released evil on humans. 

Nocnitsa

This name is derived from the ancient Greek word “Noc”, which means “night”. 

In Slavic folklore, Nocnitsa is a demon. She typically visits kids while they sleep. She will also sit on her victim to absorb their life energy.

Naamah

This name originated from Hebrew. The meaning of the name is “pleasant”.

Naamah is a demon in the Zohar. She visits victims, specifically men, in their sleep. Then, she will conceive their child who will also become a demon and will procreate with other humans. 

Lilith

Lilith is a name that is derived from lilitu, an Akkadian word. The meaning of the name is “of the night”.

Lilith is a demon in ancient Assyrian myths. In Jewish tradition, Lilith’s children were the evil spirits of Earth. 

Lamashtu

Another Akkadian name on the list is Lamashtu. The meaning of the name is “she who erases”.

Lamashtu is a demon of Mesopotamia. She would kill children in their sleep or while their mothers were breastfeeding them. According to the stories, Lamashtu would also poison their water. 

Krasue

This name has a Sanskrit origin. Krasue means “to cause another person suffering”.

Krasue, in Thai mythology, looks like a normal person during the day. However, her internal organs and head detach from her body at night.

She will then hunt for prey. Before daybreak, Krasue needs to return to her body. 

Kikimora

This name is a Udmurt word that means “scarecrow”.

 In Russian mythology, Kikimora grows up with a magician. After she matured, she spent most of her time releasing evil intentions for the world. 

Keres

Keres is a name that originated from Greece. The meaning of the name is “destruction of the dead”.

In Greek mythology, Keres were female death spirits. They don’t kill people. However, they wait for someone to die. Then, they will consume the flesh of that dead person. 

Oftentimes, the personification of violent death was found on battlefields.

Hala

This name has Proto-Slavic origins. Hala means “the fury of the elements”.

Hala is a name from Serbian folklore. She’s a demon that controls the weather. She brings strong winds and hail into the field of crops.

Hala’s huge appetite often causes her to eat the moon or sun, which leads to an eclipse. 

Enyo

It’s unknown what’s the meaning of this name. 

Though it isn’t necessarily evil, Enyo was the goddess of destruction and war. Enyo was also associated closely with Eris, the goddess of trouble.

Empusa

Empusa is a name with Greek origins. The meaning of the name is “one-footed”. 

Empusa was a demon that can change form in Greek mythology. According to stories, Empusa attacks young men in their sleep. She drinks their blood and feeds on their flesh. 

Elizabeth

Elizabeth is the English variation of Elisheba, a Hebrew name. The meaning of the name is “God is my oath”.

Elizabeth Bathory of Hungary was said to eat the flesh of young girls and bathe in their blood. She lived from 1560 to 1614. 

Despite the stories being unreliable, she was considered a real-life female demon.

Druj

This is a Zoroastrian name that means “deceit” or “falsehood”.

Druj was a demon in the ancient Zoroastrian religion. She was the personification of evil. Druj was one of the main evil beings in the world. 

Cozbi

This is a name with Hebrew origins. Cozbi means “deceiver” or “liar”.

Cozbi was a Midianite princess in the Christian Old Testament. She seduced Isralie men, which led them to sin and idolatry. 

Claudia

This name is derived from Ancient Greek. Claudia means “crippled” or “lame”.

Claudia is the child vampire in the movie “Interview with a Vampire”. She began innocently. However, she turned twisted and bitter as the movie went on. 

Carmilla

Carmilla is a name that is derived from the word “carmel”, which means garden.

It’s also the title of a Gothic novel from 1872. It’s about a vampire named Carmilla who is preying on a young woman. 

Carman

You should not confuse this name with Carmen. Carman is another name and nobody knows what it means. 

Carman was a witch from Athens in Irish mythology. She had 3 sons named Dian, Dother, and Dub. These names translate to violence, evil, and black. 

The family tried to invade Ireland and laid waste to the country in the process.

Antaura

Antuara is a name that’s derived from a Greek word. It means a “light breeze”.

She is also a demon that causes migraines to her victims. She would rise up from the ocean and send pain through the wind.
