We all have been excited about the fantasy world and its characters since childhood. No matter whether they are the protagonist or antagonist. One such example I would like to draw your attention to are trolls. Yes, there is a different meaning of it which is when someone leaves an annoying message intentionally or posts an offensive message on the internet. Celebrities sometimes get into this stuff.

But my topic is different. The trolls which I am referring to here are gigantic hairy humanoid beings from the fictional world. You must be fascinated with them and inquisitive in searching for a name for your troll character. Well, if this is it, then this article comes as the best reference guide for you.

Today, I will help you by giving suggestions on the number of troll names that I am going to list in this article. These will range from ideas from spooky to comic ones. The names of most of these troll characters would indicate bravery and barbarity. So why not flock on to those which are not common, but good. By reaching the end of this article I hope you will be able to figure out the perfect name for your fictional troll character. So let’s begin our exploration with:

Hilarious Troll Names

Trolls

Trolls mean giant humanoid beasts with unpleasant looks. They venture into hills where no one can dare to approach. Trolls also look out for bridges and caves where they live under them. They also haunt snowy mountains.

Aigamuxa

According to Medieval Europe and African mythology, Aigamuxa is a troll that appears huge in size and lives in wastelands and deserts. This troll is a cannibal means it fetches out human flesh and devours it with his sharp long teeth. Travelers who wander alone in the desert night become most of their prey.

Aigamuxa is a weird-looking monster like a troll who sees from his feet. Means he has eyes on his feet. Hence, we can say that it does not attack humans face to face, but stands on the head or sometimes hands while lying on the sand.

Kabandha

Kabandha is one catchy troll name you can refer to for your character. It is a giant troll who has the potential to take down a full human body in his mouth in one gulp. According to our Hindu folklore, Kabandha was a one-eyed gigantic cursed demon at the time of Treta Yug. Once when Lord Rama with his younger brother Lakshaman were roaming in the forest in search of Sita, got trapped by him.

But finally, Lord Ram departs him from his cursed mortal coil after cremating it. It is said, Kabandha was a celestial musician named Danu. He was cursed to become a carnivore by the god of thunder Indra and a sage Ashtavakra.

Manticore

The origin of the Manticore troll belongs to Persian and Indian folklore. He appears with the body of a lion and the head of a human with a scorpion tail. His body also carries poisonous spikes. In some other depictions, Manticore is shown with porcupine quills. This makes him a very fatal predator. He makes the best use of his triple sharped rowed teeth in feeding on its prey, not leaving a single bone behind.

Dingonek

Dingonek hails from its origin in African mythology. He appeared as a large monster in reptile shape. The history of this troll monster takes place back in 1907 in Lake Victoria. In a 1910 memoir named In Closed Territory by a big hunter Edgar Bronson.

As mentioned in the memoir, Edgar has described him as a big giant reptile, or call it an aquatic serpent that wandered in the lake. Dingonek was treated as a deity by the natives, as his advent would result as an indicator of good crops plus the rise in herds and flocks.

Xing Tian

Xing Tian is a very catchy troll name you can refer to for your character. It belongs to Chinese folklore. He is one of the large-sized trolls who ruled grasslands, coasts, and hilly places. Like Dingonek, Xing Tian is also considered a deity in the Chinese faith. He is depicted as one who takes up battle against a supreme power and gets defeated. After losing the battle, Xing Tian gets beheaded.

His severed head then gets buried in Changpeng Mountain. But surprisingly he continues to fight without a head carrying shield and axe in one of his hands. Now you will wonder how he could fight when he is beheaded? Xing Tian makes the best use of his nipples as his sight, and bellybutton as his mouth.

Piasa

Piasa is also a catchy troll name you can choose for your character. He belongs to Native American folklore appealing with a human face along with antlers. He was like a mixed-species having wings like a bird and four legs like an animal.

Ogre

Ogre was also a huge troll humanoid monster from Northern European folklore. He had an unpleasant appearance with a deformed face. He used to haunt the small villages in Britain that had no church. Ogre is depicted as a huge man-like figure in a fictional world.

Like Aigamuxa, he was also a cannibal who feasted upon human flesh especially of children and even infants. Ogre has also found its palace in classic literary works and is mostly linked with fairy tales. He was a monster who had a taste for infant flesh. A good example is to make your children sleep early.

Pukwudgie

Well, this troll is different from the above ones regarding body size. I mean to say he was not a giant-like figure but was of small stature who made a haunting dwelling in deep jungles and also in barrens. Pukwudgie hails from American mythology. Talking about his appearance, he was just two feet three inches in height. He indeed was in human form but with large body organs including nose, ears, and fingers.

Pukwudgie did not have a human skin tone but was grey glowing skin. Pukwudgie was an evil troll character who followed all brutalities on his victims including kidnapping, slashing them with sharp-edged knives and spears. He also used to blind his victims by throwing sand on their eyes.
