It is said that controversy is the shortcut to fame in show business. But very few people last their entire careers enjoying critical success as well as being in the

center of the hot talks. Marilyn Manson is one of those celebrities.

Marilyn Manson is an American singer, songwriter, actor, painter, and writer. Although he is famously known as a singer, he has enjoyed success in the mentioned art fields, too.

Most of all, he is known to have a fan base that is very loyal to him and has stood up with him all through the struggles and controversies he has faced in his career.

Marilyn Manson is a stage name used by Brian Hugh Warner. He has also formed a band that borrows the name from himself and has only him as a constant member. His name, as well as every other person’s name who was a part of the band, is named by joining the names of American sex symbols and serial killers.

In Marilyn’s case, the names are borrowed from American actress Marilyn Monroe and American serial killer Charles Manson. Marilyn has been active as a professional musician since 1989 and is mostly known for his music released in the 90s.

At the time, or anytime he has released new music, he has seen critical success and love from the audience, while there has always been a group of people posing questions against his music. Let us have a look at this controversial and talented personality and see how much he has earned in his lifetime.

Early Life

Marilyn Manson was born Brian High Warner on January 5, 1969. Although his father was a Roman Catholic, he used to go to Episcopal Church, which was his mother’s religion. He attended Heritage Christian School.

He claims that he was first introduced to his kind of music in his school and by his school, itself. His school used to show the kind of music that was supposedly bad and to stay away from.

Marilyn listened to music and fell in love with it. He started going to college in 1990 and was working to get a degree in journalism. He used to write articles for a music magazine and also interviewed music personalities. This is how he came in contact with Trent Reznor, from Nine Inch Nails, who later became his godfather in the industry and helped launch his career.

Marilyn’s first marriage was with Dita Von Teese and he married his second wife recently, in 2020, who is Lindsay Urich. There was a lot of mystery around the identity of his second wife but it was revealed after she changed her name on social media.

Musical Career

Marilyn Manson formed the band with his name in 1989 with a guitarist named Daisy Berkowitz. The band has had several on and off members and Marilyn is the only constant member of the band.

The band was noticed by Trent Reznor in 1993 and he released their first album in 1994 under his Nothings Records label, called Portrait of an American Family. The musical in the lyrics were unique and the name gathered a cult following for itself.

The band released Smells Like Children in 1995 and increased its following, which was also expanded due to the Downwards Spiral Tour. They released the first collaboration with MTV named Sweet Dreams. Their next album was released in 1996 called Antichrist Superstar, which was released by Interscope and Nothing Records label. Marilyn Manson also produced the studio album.

While Antichrist Superstar was the band’s most successful album yet, it also brought with itself controversy. The founding member of the band, Daisy Berkowitz, quit the band in the middle of the recording of the album.

The album also attracted heat from certain activist groups and they even protected converts where the band was playing. The band went through a tough time during the recording of The Golden Age of Grotesque, because many of the long time members quit citing creative differences.

The album received mixed reviews. The 2010s were a time of emotional turmoil for the singer as his albums were doing average business and he was going through a rough patch with his relationships.

His album titled Born Villain was released in 2012 and brought him success. The album featured more of a combination of blued and rock, rather than his general style of music. He went on to release albums in 2015 and 2017 which did tremendous with the critics and the fans as well.

In addition to his studio albums, he owns a record label and has produced an album for Jack Off Jill. He jas also worked on numerous television series and movies in the90s, including the show Sons Of Anarchy.

Most of Marilyn Manson’s money comes from his musical talent. He still receives royalties for the albums he did in the 90s and later. He has been making constant appearances on TV, too.

Marilyn used to live in a house built in 1941 with all the luxury and mystery you would expect for a rockstar, but it was put on for $2 million. He famously drives a Lincoln Continental from 1969, which was also used for the video of Tainted Love. His net worth is estimated to total $25 million.
