When is the Time to Test for Hormone Imbalance?

When you have symptoms of hormone imbalance, it’s essential to evaluate your hormones and thyroid levels. This is because they all affect your overall health and well-being. There are many different symptoms of hormone imbalance, like pain, exhaustion, and depression. Keep reading to see when you should use that hormone testing kit.

When You Are Feeling Tired, Anxious, and Irritable

If you are tired during the day, or if it takes you a long time to fall asleep at night, your thyroid may be out of balance. This can be caused by high levels of T3 and T4 hormones. These are produced by the thyroid gland, which helps regulate our metabolism and energy production.

If your thyroid isn’t working correctly, your body will produce too much of one hormone or not enough of another. This can cause symptoms like weight gain, fatigue, and depression.

When You Have Irregular Periods

Irregular periods are typically caused by low levels of estrogen in the body. The ovaries and testes make estrogen, but it also has other functions throughout the body. When there’s not enough estrogen circulating through your body due to an imbalance in hormones like progesterone or testosterone, this can lead to irregular periods (or no periods at all).

When Your Sex Drive Is Low

If you are experiencing a low sex drive, it may be due to an imbalance in the hormones that regulate sexual desire. Schedule a physical exam if you have trouble getting aroused or having an orgasm. Your doctor can perform blood tests and other diagnostic tests to determine if there is a hormonal imbalance that could be causing your lack of desire.

When Having Anxiety and Depression

Depression and anxiety are also common problems that hormone imbalances can cause. Depression can be brought on by stress or anxiety, or hormonal fluctuations in the body can cause it. Both depression and anxiety often occur in people with low testosterone levels. If you are experiencing these symptoms, it’s essential to get checked out by your doctor to see if there could be an underlying problem causing them.

When You Have Insomnia

If you wake up at night unable to get back to sleep, it may be time for a hormone imbalance test. Insomnia can be caused by many factors, including stress, poor sleep hygiene, and poor diet choices.

However, suppose there is an underlying cause such as low thyroid function or adrenal fatigue (common among women). In that case, this will only worsen with time without your physician’s intervention.

Heavy and Painful Periods for an Extended Period of Time

Heavy periods are very common and can happen for several reasons. But if your period has been coming at irregular times or coming every few days but lasting longer than usual, it may be due to an imbalance in your hormones. This can cause heavy bleeding during your period, as well as cramping and other symptoms like headaches, backaches, and fatigue.

Fertility Issues

A hormone imbalance could be a factor if you’re struggling to conceive. You may be experiencing hormonal changes that affect your ability to get pregnant. This may happen when you take birth control pills, or it could be a side effect of other medications.

High Blood Pressure

High blood pressure is also a common cause of hormonal imbalance. When high blood pressure causes the body to lose calcium and magnesium, the body produces too much testosterone, which can lead to problems with your reproductive organs and testes. If you have symptoms of high blood pressure, ask your doctor about testing for these hormones.

Poor Memory

If you have poor memory, you must get tested for hormone imbalance. Hormone imbalances can cause anemia, a condition where the body doesn’t have enough oxygen-carrying blood cells. Anemia can cause short-term memory loss, brain fog, and other types of memory problems.

Medical Conditions or Medications

Certain medications may affect your hormones and cause an imbalance, including birth control pills, hormone replacement therapy (HRT), and certain types of cancer medications. Other conditions that may affect your hormones include thyroid disease, diabetes, and obesity.

Bottom Line

If you feel that your hormone levels should be tested, make sure to seek the medical help of a professional. Nevertheless, you can begin the investigations at home! With a hormone testing kit you can easily get the answers you need from the comfort of your home.
