What to Look for in a Rental Car for Your Trip

Finding the perfect rental car for your trip isn’t always easy.

A lot of people get stuck in the same mode of just walking up to the register and ordering whatever is available.

Or, if you’re like many people and you rent cars online, you may be focused more on price than on anything. Noble Transfer takes the stress out of your journey while traveling to Zurich, Switzerland with easier Zurich airport transportations, Zurich airport taxi service and gives you more time to enjoy your holidays or prepare for a business meeting.

But believe it or not, there’s a lot more to it than that. You can actually get a lot more for your money, and also a great car for your specific needs, by going just a bit further in looking for the proper features and offerings.

And in this post, you’re going to learn exactly what to look for in a rental car, to help you have the best car rental experience ever.

Let’s dive in and get crackin.

What to Look for in a Rental Car for Your Trip

1. Look For A Better Price Comparison

When you’re getting ready to travel, either for leisure or for business, you may be tempted to jump online and bring up the first car-rental company that you can find.

You may be looking for a car rental to take you from the airport to a location where you’ll be hosting a business meeting. Or, you may be planning to do it the old-fashioned way, and drive all the way to your destination (skipping the airport altogether!).

You may opt for a popular brand, like Enterprise or Hertz.

Well, this is a great starting point.

But never forget to look into competitor pricing too, to see if you can get a better deal on the type of car that you actually want.

You can even use services like Kayak to find the best deals available for the specific date and time of your trip, all in one place.

2. Look For A Model That Actually Works For You

A lot of people rent the cheapest possible option, hoping to save some money.

After all, it’s just a rental. Right?

Why spend more than you have to on something that you’re just going to drive and return anyway?

Well, there’s some undeniable logic in that viewpoint, but hear us out:

You may actually be able to get a car that’s much better suited to your needs, for just a bit more money, if you do your due diligence and shop around.

Imagine the difference between driving 6 hours in a tiny car that really puts the ‘squeeze’ on your knees, versus 6 hours in a medium-sized sedan with plenty of legroom.

Yep. It matters.

Choosing the right car for you, and spending just a little bit more money in the process, will usually equal a much better overall experience.

Especially if you’re going to be driving long-distance.

3. Need A Hotel, Flight, And Car? Look Into Bundling

Sometimes, you can bundle these things together to save even more money.

Of course, with that being said, you should also check out all of your options, to make sure that you’re not spending more when you bundle than you would on each piece separately.

If you’re traveling for business, for example, checking out services like Hotel Engine could save you even more on lodging than bundling a hotel and a car on other sites would save you.

But still, it’s worth it to do your homework.

Sometimes, bundles actually offer a lot more savings than you might think. Plus, they can sometimes get you a better car at a better price.

4. Look At Insurance Options

If you already carry full coverage for your own car, well, you’re probably good on this one.

But if you don’t have a car, or if you only carry limited insurance on your vehicle, then this can actually get you into a bit of trouble.

You should always look into insurance options, and shop around for those as well.

This is every bit as important as the car rental itself. And if you don’t regularly carry full coverage, you definitely don’t want to risk getting into a rental and being liable for something in the case of an accident.

It sucks to think about. But it’s an important factor to consider.

Conclusion

Finding the best car rental doesn’t have to be rocket science.

But it does take some work.

Here’s the thing, though.

If you go ahead and put in the time, you’ll usually find that you can get a lot more for your money than you would have otherwise.

But perhaps even more importantly, you’ll find that you can have a better, more comfortable experience over the course of your drive.

And that is where you find the real value when it comes to car rentals.
