Studying medicine is very difficult and requires immense hard work and patience – It’s a challenging but rewarding profession and the progress of getting through medical school reflects this accordingly. But, going to a reputable college in a good country that will groom you in the right way makes things a little easier and gives you more options once you graduate.

1.    Australia

This country has some top medical colleges in the world. The reputed ones include the University of Sydney, University of Queensland, University of Melbourne, and Monash University.

A key part of the entry criteria in Australia is the GAMSAT (Graduate Medical School Admissions Test). As such, you’ll need to ensure you know how to prepare for GAMSAT to get a competitive score when it comes to the admissions period. The basic threshold is a score of at least 50 in all three sections but you’ll need to do better to be competitive as spots are highly sought after in Australia.

In addition to your GAMSAT scores, most universities will also use your GPA from a bachelor’s degree and require you to sit an interview.

Graduate-entry pathways to medicine in Australia takes four years after finishing a bachelor’s degree. They also have an impressive number of international students. These attributes are surely impressive!

2. The United States of America

The USA has six universities that happen to be some of the best ones in the world, including Harvard University, Stanford University, Johns Hopkins University, University of California Los Angeles, UC San Francisco, and Yale University.

One needs to have a bachelor’s degree in science and pass the MCAT (Medical College Admissions Test) for being eligible to apply to Medical Colleges. An average MCAT score is 506 and above. However, it is encouraged to score above 509.

American medical teaching is very up-to-date, and they focus heavily on teaching. Also, you wouldn’t have to worry about the administration in these colleges or the environment as their faculties are immaculate.

3. The United Kingdom

Universities like Oxford and Cambridge are the most reputed ones for medicine in the UK. Also, do not forget that these are some of the oldest education institutions. They have been the first choice of thousands of students for years.

Their teaching is very advanced, and they also heavily prioritize research. To finish their medical study, one needs to complete three years of undergraduate and three years of postgraduate study. Universities in the UK also use the GAMSAT exam as a medical admissions test. It is an excellent place to pursue your medical studies.

4.    India

India has always been advanced when it comes to medicines and has colleges like AIIMS (All India Institute of Medical Services) and Madras Medical College.

This country, too, has many international students studying medicine. One of the benefits of studying in India is that it has a vast number of medical colleges, so your options are endless. Studying there is also comparatively more affordable than in other countries. One can finish their MBBS in five and a half years without the need to complete a bachelor’s degree beforehand. India has endless opportunities for medical students and should be explored.

5.    Canada

Canada has reputed universities like the University of Toronto, the University of British Columbia, and McGill University. They also have hospitals with the best treatments and services with a very hardworking research team.

Students are required to pass the MCAT with above-average marks to get admission to good colleges. They are also required to have a bachelor’s degree in bioscience. It is very difficult to get into top-notch colleges in Canada, but the four years of excellent learning are worth it. They also allow students to pursue a second degree along with their medical one.

The competition is high, but the services and opportunities are equally satisfactory.
