The first Lego Batman Movie was released in 2017 and took the world by storm. The film was one of the first Lego movies to be a massive success since its launch of Lego movies in 2014.
With the franchise’s penchant for mimicking Batman’s famous mannerisms and the darkness of his character are what made the first movie a huge success.
But don’t fret, everything is not yet over for both Lego and Batman lovers out there because there’s another franchise for The Lego Batman Movie 2.
If you are looking forward to this fantastic new sequel, we’ve compiled everything you need to know from its casts, plot, release date, and much more exciting Infos.
The Lego Batman Movie 2 Release Date
If you loved the first Lego Batman Movie, you are probably looking forward to the sequel. The release date hasn’t been set yet. Still, since we know for sure that a sequel is currently being developed, we can expect to see a trailer released within the next year in 2021. Given how complicated the animation process is for the team with the Legos studios, we know it’s going to be epic as well.
The exact date when the Lego Batman Movie 2 will be released has not been disclosed to the public yet. Unfortunately, with the pandemic going on, there might be a possibility that the movie release date is rescheduled around 2022. Still, nothing is set on stone yet so we’ll just have to wait. In the meantime, we can rewatch the first film over and over again for some easter eggs we might have missed.

One of the most crucial factors why this franchise is a huge hit is because of its impeccable casting paired with great humor from the casts. We can assume that the casts from the first movie will be the same for its sequel. Here is the list of the main actors we can expect to hear from in the next film:
- Will Arnet as Bruce Wayne a.k.a Batman
- Zack Galifianakis as The Joker
- Michael Cera as Richard “Dick” Grayson
- Rosario Dawson as Barbara Gordon

- Jenny Slate as Harley Quinn
- Mariah Carey as Mayor McCaskill
- Eddie Izzard as Lord Voldemort
- Seth Green as King Kong
- Jemaine Clement as Sauron
Plot
The first movie had Batman’s most well-known nemesis, the Joker, squaring off against him to make him realize they both needed each other. The finale showed Joker freeing the villains of Gotham City leaving an exciting cliffhanger for the next movie. Joker also plants explosives around Gotham City which leads its people to physically chain-link themselves to prevent the city from falling apart.
Finally, the film ends with a touching moment showing the creation of the Bat family composed of Batgirl, Alfred, Robin, and Batman himself fighting together to fight crime. Batman realizes that having friends and family around him is a good thing and will help him grow to be a better hero that Gotham needs.
In the sequel, we can expect that the film will use the opportunity to make it better with its unique use of media and animation along with the dark and quirky storyline of the original Batman comics. The new Lego Batman 2 will most likely showcase the Batman rogues gallery to fight all the evil villains that were set free by The Joker in the first movie.
With his new Bat family, we will most likely witness the dynamics between each character as they work together in this new film as opposed to Batman working on his own in the first franchise, but that’s just our prediction. The main plot of the new movie is still a mystery for the avid fans out there; that means more fun in making theories and guesses about what surprises will be in the sequel.
Minifigures
If you are an avid fan of the franchise, you probably would also love collecting minifigures of the characters. A lot of comic fans are keen on collecting minifigures to display in their homes as these items are often rare and hard to find. Collectables can also include comic books and toy sets apart from minifigures.
If you are new to the world of LEGO’s collectible mini figure series, you need to know that each Minifigure is chosen randomly and sent out to you in a blind bag for a surprise. What you get is randomly selected, and this is what makes the idea of collecting minifigures so appealing to its audience. You have to be lucky to get ahold of rare items, and when you do get lucky, the joy it brings will be worth the gamble.
For those who are keen on getting the minifigures they want badly, there are also other collectors online who sell their rare finds in exchange for a fair amount of money.
