The Complete Beginner’s Guide to Flashlight with Lasers

Are you looking to upgrade your EDC flashlight? Do your weapons need a new tactical light? If yes, we got you covered.

Just in the span of 5 years, flashlights have evolved so much. In 2022, any flashlight older than 10 years will be labeled as old-style flashlights.

Today you can find all sorts of flashlights, from tiny EDC to military-grade tactical flashlights. Though there are 100s of brands producing 1000s of different flashlight models, the majority of people are leaning toward flashlights with lasers, especially gun owners.

Flashlight with laser enables you to choose the best of both worlds (flashlight and laser) without increasing your costs.

Regular Lights and Laser Lights – What’s the Difference?

If we talk in terms of waves, both regular lights and laser lights are electromagnetic waves. The only difference between the two is the wavelength.

Light from a regular flashlight is a mixture of electromagnetic waves of different wavelengths. These lights are non-directional and inconsistent (not containing photons of the same frequency).

Ordinary white light can only travel a short distance because the intensity of the light decreases rapidly as it gets distant from the light source.

On the other hand, laser light is a focus bean in which all the photons travel at the same wavelength and in the same direction. These concentrated lights are so directional that it makes them travel hundreds of meters without being scattered.

Laser lights are not only used in flashlights but they are also used in many different applications such as metal cutting machines, laser printers, eye surgeries, tattoo removal, barcode readers, and fiber optic technology.

White Light vs. Laser Light – Which is better?

Let’s keep the flashlight aside for a while and talk about white light and laser light in general.

From a general point of view, both lights are extensively used in many industries. They both have unique characteristics that make them the best options in their designated areas.

Coming back to the topic,

Like any other things on the planet, white light and laser light both have their own use and need in a flashlight.

If you’re looking for a flashlight that can send signals during an emergency, you can use either a high-lumen white light or a laser light. However, if you are looking for a light that can help you find your way in the dark, a laser won’t be that useful.

On the other hand, if you’re looking for a light that can help you target long-distance, a regular flashlight won’t help.

Depending on your need you can either go for a laser light or a flashlight. If you need both, flashlights like Arkfeld are a great option. Arkfeld is a flashlight with laser light.

Red vs. Green Laser Light – Which is better?

Both green and red lights are unique and you can only tell which is better as per your needs. If you need a flashlight with laser that has a longer battery life and is budget-friendly at the same time, a red laser is a better option.

A flashlight with a red laser is also a better option if you live in colder locations because it operates between 15 and 120 degrees Fahrenheit which is also double the operating temperature of green laser light.

Green laser light is better for law enforcement, tactical users, and people who need aiming accuracy during the day and at night because it’s easier to see.

This concentrated green beam can be seen up to 100 yards, whereas the red beam is visible only up to 25-30 yard range.

This one feature of green lights makes it perfect for astronomers, office presentations, shooting targets with accuracy, and sending signals during emergencies.

What Should You Look For While Buying Flashlight with Laser?

We cover all the basics about lasers in particular and flashlights with lasers in general. If you’re convinced that you need a flashlight laser combo.

Here are some features you should consider while buying a flashlight with laser.

  1. User-Friendly

Easy to use should be your priority. A flashlight with laser should be easy to mount and detach if you’re planning to use it with your weapon. Or it should be easy to operate if you’re planning for everyday use.

  1. Build Quality

It’s important to check the material quality, especially if you’re planning to use it with your gun. The flashlight should be able to handle the intensity of your activities. It should be able to withstand the recoil that comes from your rifle.

Even if you’re using it for camping or for hiking purposes, it should be able to handle cold, hot, and rainy weather. You should look for a flashlight that is made of high-quality aluminum.

  1. Laser Range

If you are on a budget, going for a short-range laser could save you some money. A long-range laser is best for shooting activities, for use such as a presentation pointer, or for playing with your pet short range laser will do the job.

  1. Size and Weight

Compared to bigger flashlights, smaller flashlights are easier to carry and attached to weapons. You can also choose a lightweight flashlight if weight is a concern.

If you are looking for a flashlight for a hunting trip, try to strike a good balance between weight and acceptability of use. Every extra ounce matters on a long trip.

  1. Lumen

Flashlights that come with an inbuilt laser often tend to run out of battery faster than non-laser flashlights. The only way to save battery is to buy a lower-lumen flashlight or flashlights that have an adjustable lumen option.

Flashlight That Stands Out – Arkfeld

The Arkfeld is an innovative flashlight with lasers that stands out from the crowd. This tiny but powerful flashlight has a unique switch and control option.

You can switch to different brightness modes with just a few clicks. The most remarkable part is its flat feature body and construction.

This 3.07oz in weight and 0.59inc in thickness flashlight can fit into your pants or shirt pockets without noticing its existence.

You can use this light for camping, hiking, presentation, and playing with your pets.

Time to Upgrade

Upgrading can be a little expensive because flashlights with laser lights are costlier than other flashlights. But in the long run, it’s worth the price.

Not all flashlights are created equal, many flashlights laser combos have varying degrees of strength and power. Some could be seen from miles away and some won’t be visible after a few yards.

So, make sure to do your research. When you search for your ideal flashlight, ask yourself, why do you need it? How will you use it? This will help you figure out the perfect lumen and laser range for your needs.

If you’re purchasing from a physical store try it first-hand before you make the payment. If you’re buying online, check customer reviews and ratings.

Spending money on a flashlight might seem like a small investment, but the quality of a flashlight should be a concern. It doesn’t matter how much you’re paying, if you’re not confident with that flashlight and its laser, you better look for some other brand.

In an emergency or during a tactical situation, your flashlight should be able to withstand anything.
