Swamp People is a reality show set up in the southernmost swamps of America and was first aired on August 22, 2010, on the History channel. The show revolves around the traditional hunting activities of alligators by the descendants of the French Canadian Refugees in the swamp regions of Louisiana.

Swamp People Season 10: Release Date
Swamp People is one of the reasons behind the ratings of the History channel but the channel has not come up with any latest updates regarding the upcoming seasons of the show. Till now, Swamp People has served eleven seasons to its viewers with 197 episodes. Season one opened with a record view of 3.1 million on the very first day of its premiere on August 22, 2010, and subsequently resulted in rating the channel as number one during peak hours of the show.
Season ten of the show was aired on January 31, 2019, and concluded on May 23, 2019. Later on, it was found that History had ordered season eleven to keep the show go on without any stops. So, the eleventh season of the series went live on January 23, 2020, which concluded on April 16, 2020. Although there is not an announcement by the History channel, there is an anticipation that it may be released sometime in late 2021.
Swamp People Season 10: The Cast
The show is narrated by Pat Duke who is the only constant character of the show. Since Swamp People is a reality television show, the characters keep changing from season to season. But due to its popularity around the U.S, some of the families have become incredibly famous and The Landry Family is one of them. Every member of the Landry Family has his expertise in hunting the alligators as the local men know them as the king of swampland.
Troy, one of the lead members of the family is an expert and wears a blue shirt as his lucky shirt while on the show. Troy’s son Jacob is also on the captain seat of the boat and Chase Laundry is Troy’s second son who helps him during the show. Troy along with his sons team up to hunt the alligators and is seen in every second season of the show.
Elizabeth Cavalier, also known as Gator queen, is Troy’s friend who helps him out with her hunting skills and so is also popularly known as Lucky Liz. Liz’s husband Justin and daughter Jessica also are seen on the show. Her husband plays the role of the boat captain, while daughter Jessica was seen on boat 2 during season 5 of the show. Another hunter, R.J. Molinere, a native of America, won laurels on the show for catching one of the biggest alligators amongst 200 tags. Bruce Mitchell, a lifelong swamper, is famous for hunting alone on the show but during season 3, Ron Methvin, a military veteran, was seen accompanying Bruce on the show.
Swamp People Season 10: The Plot
If we talk about the format of the show, it is purely based on the follow up of day-to-day hunting activities of people in Louisiana, which is famous for its swamplands and harvesting of alligators from the past 200 years. People in Louisiana harvest these dangerous reptiles of America for their skin and flesh, under the government licenses. Most of the hunters practice hunting during the seasonal period of hunting around swamps of Louisiana which is a 30-day hunting period. Once the period is over, people shift to the rearing of shrimps, turtles, and other reptiles.
The live coverage of hunting activities on the show is one of the major factors for its success rate as the format of the show brings content full of thrill and adventure to the audience. The extent of risk involved, the unpredictable nature of wild animals, the challenging lifestyle of hunters has captivated the interest of the fans and so is the reason behind the extended seasons of the show during the past years.
The phrase “Choot ‘em” was one of the most heard phrases on the show used by Swamp people once they finished hunting one prey. Earlier, the telecasting of the show was set up in areas around Atchafalaya River Basin. Slowly, it took over to the southernmost parts of America including Louisiana and in present times, the filming of the episodes of Swamp People has been extended to Texas in the past years.

Each season of the show continues to be a record hit all around the U.S and was one of the reasons behind the increased ratings of the History channel during peak hours in a very short time. Season 2 of the show was the most-viewed season with 5.5 million views for the final episode. Two mobile games were also designed on the terms of this famous show named Angry Swamp and The Swamp People game.
History came up with three spin-offs to the show which was filmed in the same format displaying hunting of random animals around southern America. The first spin-off, Outback Hunters was particularly focusing on the hunting of crocodiles in Australian territory, which consisted of 11 episodes.
Swamp Mysteries with Troy Landry was the second spin-off of the show where Troy Landry along with local experts is seen capturing local creatures in the southern parts of the U.S. The third spin-off, Swamp People Serpent Invasion which aimed at eradicating pythons in Everglades was aired on History Channel on March 9, 2020. Although the channel has not revealed anything about the next installment of the series, let’s wait till the channel updates its viewers.
