Rod Wave was born Rodarius Marcell Green on 27th August 1998 in St. Petersburg, Florida, United States of America. His parents are Charmaine and Rodney Faits, his mother worked as a cable company employee and his father did street activities.
His father, Rodney was sent away to prison for six years. It was during this time that Rod got himself involved in a lot of illicit activities involving drugs, robbery and firearms. After his father’s return from prison, he noticed Rod being involved in bad behavior and decided to turn his life around. His father bought him a microphone and motivated him to pursue music. His brother also offered help and bought Rod a computer and thus, he began his musical career.

Rod Wave began his musical career in the year 2015 with the launch of his mixtape for Hunger Games Vol. 1. It was during this time that he signed a contract with Alamo Records. Much later, in 2019, his song ‘Heart on Ice’ went viral on Tiktok putting him in the limelight. It was from then on things began looking good for Rod. He released his debut album that very year, in November. The album was one among Billboard US 200’s top ten. Consecutively, he released another album Pray 4 Love which charted at number 2 on Billboard 200. His song Rags 2 Riches once again topped the charts and made him all the more famous.
