The Early Life of Penn Jillette
Penn Jillette was born on March 5, 1955, in Greenfield, Massachusetts. Penn was born to his mother, Valda Rudolph, a secretary, and Samuel Herbert Jillette, who worked in a jail.
When Penn was in her teen years, he started having second thoughts regarding God. He began asking questions in a Youth group that made other Youths doubt God’s existence, and he was always asked to leave the church. Since then, he became an atheist and embraced it openly.
Penn developed his interest in magic when he was young. When he was eighteen, he watched James Randi’s approach to magic and fell in love with it. Penn regarded magic as an instrument of entertainment rather than a supernatural power. This explains why, during his initial days in magic, he and Teller refused to be called magicians.
Penn started developing acts in 1973 after he graduated. He met Teller through a mutual friend, Weir Chrisemer when they formed a three-person act. After the act, Teller and Penn continued collaborating and doing more acts together.
