Mirrors and Mirror Parts for Japanese Trucks

When replacing the mirrors for Japanese trucks, it is best to purchase only quality parts designed specifically for those vehicles. However, since every truck brand differs from the other, you must also remember to account for different designs and subtle changes in mirror positioning and mirror arms. Therefore, always ensure you fit the correct aftermarket mirrors to preserve function and safety.

No matter your truck’s brand, when buying aftermarket parts for Japanese trucks, you must know which mirrors and mirror parts to purchase for your specific vehicle. Conversely, while the mirror’s brand may not be significant, its quality and specifications do. The mirrors must be high quality, manufactured to OEM- original equipment manufacturer- requirements and fit to your vehicle securely without modification.

Why are mirrors so important?

Mirrors are more crucial for the operation of heavy vehicles than cars and small vehicles. However, it is easy to overlook their function since they don’t directly impact the truck’s mechanical process. But they are critical in providing the driver with improved visibility of what’s occurring around them.

Truck mirrors allow you to manoeuvre quickly through various traffic and road conditions. Additionally, they enable you to change lanes safely and confidently. That’s why you must always review your mirror setup before initiating operation. Regular checks are also vital for ensuring that the mirrors remain in the proper position and have no damage.

Different types of mirror products

First, when examining your mirror setup, it is crucial to remember that Japanese trucks don’t have just one set of mirrors. Because the vehicle’s large size limits your visibility through a rear-view mirror, the truck’s side mirrors are even more crucial. Here are a few examples of the common types of mirrors for Japanese trucks:

Mirror heads

The standard truck side mirrors come in a variety of forms. The most popular types are convex mirrors (also known as fish-eye mirrors) and flat mirrors. Conventionally, most modern trucks use convex mirrors because they provide a wider view around the truck than flat mirrors. Sometimes, manufacturers and operators fit convex mirrors at the vehicle’s rear. However, late-generation vehicles now come with reversing cameras, thus rendering the rear convex mirrors redundant.

When selecting mirror heads, opt for advanced features such as heated glass and electric operation, ensuring you maintain good visibility even in cold conditions.

Spotter mirrors

Spotter mirrors- or blind spot mirrors-give you an expanded view, particularly into the usual blind spots. They are convenient and ideal for obtaining a more comprehensive view of what’s happening around you. This provision is beneficial when checking blind spots during lane changes and observing vehicles driving closely behind you.

Many side mirror heads come as one complete package containing a larger convex or flat mirror and a spotter mirror below it.

Sight glasses

Sight glasses help you get a quick visual of a truck’s oil. Therefore, you can see the oil level and check for contaminants. The primary advantage of sight glasses is that you can check your oil quality and level without opening any closed systems. As a result, you avoid introducing more contaminants.

Your mirrors and sight glasses are crucial for the safe operation of your vehicle. So, you must always check them regularly and avoid purchasing cheap imitations. In addition, all aftermarket parts for trucks must meet or exceed OEM specifications.
