Kimberly Michelle Zabriskie Herring passed away on September 10, 2022, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on September 29, 1976, in Goldsboro, North Carolina. Kimberly was a devoted wife to Mark Camon Herring for 21 years and a proud mother of her daughter, Sierra Colleen Herring.

Kimberly Herring’s Life and Legacy

Kimberly was known for her passion for teaching. After graduating from East Carolina University, she spent 23 years as a teacher in Wayne County Public schools. She was a beloved teacher and coach, dedicating herself to helping her students achieve their fullest potential. Kimberly was especially proud of the success her students achieved both in and out of the classroom. She was honored to be chosen as Wayne County’s volleyball coach of the year for two consecutive years. Her love for her teaching and her students superseded the classroom, and she would devote special time to any student or teacher that she saw struggling. Kimberly touched the lives of countless people over the years and made many close friends in the staff and administration during her career.

Kimberly’s family was her greatest joy. Her daughter Sierra was her pride and joy, and Kimberly supported her in everything she did. She was her daughter’s greatest cheerleader, always encouraging her to give her best in anything she tackled and to never give up. Kimberly’s love for her family was deep, and she will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her.
