Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress is a fantastic anime series which is well appreciated by the viewers. This addictive series is created by Wit Studio and is explores post-apocalyptic horrors.

Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress revolves around unique beings called Kabane. Kabanes are nothing but mutated human beings. Earth is taken over by a mysterious virus that transforms humans into Kabane, which roughly translates to ‘corpse’. Kabane, by nature, are extremely aggressive and difficult to kill. The only way to kill a Kabane is to pierce his iron shielded golden heart or dismembering him.

The interesting thing about Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress is that it is set during the Industrial Revolution. So one can imagine how primitive things might have been. Hinomoto, a small island country, has taken severe measures to protect themselves against the Kabane and the virus. They have built colossal fortresses to shelter their soldiers and keep the Kabane out. The only way to communicate with neighboring fortresses is to use a steam locomotive called hayajiro.

During one such trip via a steam locomotive, the young engineer Ikoma finds himself trapped. Why? Because the hayajiro he was on was hijacked by Kabane who ultimately runs it into an abandoned city. Ikoma has no option but to engage in combat with the Kabane. He seizes the opportunity and uses his specially designed Kabane piercing gun.

Unfortunately, Ikoma is infected by the virus. But somehow he manages to minimize the transformation and instead turns into a Kabaneri. A Kabaneri is a Kabane- human combination- half Kabane and half-human. As the story progresses, Ikoma meets another Kabaneri who appears to be on their side. Now the only goal of the survivors is to find shelter and protect themselves from the Kabane.

Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress season 2 cast:

• Ikoma- Tasuku Hatanaka gave a voice to this character in the Japanese version of Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress. At the same time, Robbie Daymond did the voice over for the English version. Ikoma is a young engineer from the city of Aragane Station. He is incredibly smart, and along with his friend, he managed to create a bolt gun-like weapon. He named it a piercing gun to pierce the heart of the Kabane.

Tasuku Hatanaka is a Japanese actor, voice actor, and singer. He is best known for his performance in the anime series Yu-Gi-Oh! Zexal. He voiced the character Yuma Tsukumo. He has also worked in Ushio and Tora, Battery and Armed Girls.

• Mumei- This character was voiced by Sayaka Senbongi in the Japanese version and by Janice Kawaye in the English version. Mumei is introduced as a mysterious character. Later it is revealed that she is a Kabaneri like Ikoma. She is a strong character who is not afraid of the Kabane. Unlike Ikoma who turned into a Kabaneri accidentally, Mumei chooses to turn into a Kabaneri.

Sayaka Senbongi is a Japanese voice actress who made her debut in Chronicles of the Going Home Club. She has also worked in Girlish Number. For her incredible contribution, she has been awarded the Best Rookie Actress at the 11^th Seiyu Awards.

• Ayame Yomogawa- She is the eldest sister of the Yomogawa family and is voiced by Maaya Uchida in the Japanese series and Veronica Taylor in the English succession. She monitors Aragane Station. She takes the position of the group leader after the demise of her father. She is a kind soul who offers her blood to the Kabaneri to slow down the transformation.

Maaya Uchida is a Japanese voice actress, actress, and singer. She is known to be associated with I’m Enterprise just like Sayaka Senbongi. She is known for her work in Unofficial Sentai Akibaranger. She won the Best New Actress Award at the 8^th Seiyu Awards.

• Kurusu– He is the personal bodyguard of Ayame. This character is voiced by Toshiki Masuda in the Japanese version and by Jamieson Price in the English version. This character has been an essential part of the Yomogawa family for a long time. For a long time, he believed that the Kabaneri is someone to be mingled with but soon realizes their importance.

Toshiki Masuda is a Japanese born actor, voice actor, and singer. He has worked with huge establishments like Space Craft Entertainment and Toy’s Factory. He has worked on many anime series, movies, and video games as well.

Fans of Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress are desperately waiting for the next season. Since the first season was released in 2016, there has been no confirmation regarding season 2. Most anime series are based on comics and manga. But the incredible thing about Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress is that it is 100% original. It naturally raises the expectation of the fans. But it also means that this series might require a lot more work.
