The first key aspect is that you really want to start small and focus on what you are the best at. Keep it specific versus generic. For example, if you want to do digital marketing, are you talking about email marketing, social media management, PPC advertising, or search engine optimization?

You quickly see how many subcategories are possible, so just pick the one you feel confident you can teach someone tomorrow. As you grow your online presence and you’ve established your niche, you can then revisit additional topics to add to your overall repertoire of expertise.

Time to get yourself online

You may have social media accounts already, but it’s time to start focusing on your digital presence in a professional manner. You want to make sure all channels are properly updated and reflect a sense of professionalism related to your expertise, as well as even consider building out your own web page as a place for your visitors to see what your offering is. This is an essential piece of beginning your marketing phase and will require an investment into advertising and time to maintain and update your presence continuously.

You want to be engaged online and start to discover what your target audience is. Who resonates with your message and style and seems to need your expertise? That is what will be your target market.

Create content to engage

Now comes the part where you transfer the knowledge in your brain onto a medium for consumption. It’s all about creating the right type of training materials which will help you when you are selling training courses. This can be done via the production of eBooks or even quick-start templates and 1-page guides to get people to recognize you as a subject matter expert in the topic.
