Succulents are one of the most popular plants to grow indoors and for all the good reasons! These interesting plants can be found in a variety of colours and shapes. While they require little care, succulents need to be properly decorated before they get too big. If you want your succulent to stay healthy and happy, stay with us as we are about to spill some beans!

Additionally, if you are looking for plant delivery Toronto for fresh succulents for your home, we will be happy to help.

Make sure they get enough light

Succulents are low-maintenance plants that are perfect for anyone with a black thumb. They’re also great if you don’t have much time to spend caring for your plants because they require little attention and thrive on neglect.

However, succulents can sometimes suffer from a lack of light. If your succulent is looking pale or wilted, it may not be getting enough sunlight in its environment. You can improve your succulent’s light exposure by moving it closer to a window or outside in the sun during the day.

decorate and care for your succulents

Rotate your succulents regularly

One of the most essential things you can do for your succulent is to rotate it. Rotating the pot allows light to reach all sides of the plant and also saves it from direct exposure to sunlight, which can cause leaves to turn pale or yellow.

Additionally, rotating your succulents also helps to prevent moisture from building up on the leaves. You can rotate them in a clockwise or counter-clockwise direction, but it is important that you do this regularly for each plant.

Plant them in the right soil

Most succulents need a specific soil to thrive. However, there is one type of soil that most succulents can grow in, and it’s not the expensive potting mix you buy at your local nursery.

The dirt you use for planting an array of flowers and vegetables will work just fine.

But what about drainage? Succulents don’t like wet feet, so they’ll need some holes in the bottom of their container or planter if they are planted directly into the ground, which would be covered with rocks or other material to keep water from seeping through the surface.

A perfect idea would be to use a shallow tray filled with gravel on top of which you place your containers full of plants, then fill them with water and let the excess run out into the tray.

You may also need to trim your succulent’s roots so they don’t grow too long or invasive, which can break apart your soil mixture as it expands inside of its container.

Avoid overcrowding

Some succulents have tiny leaves; others have fat leaves resembling that of a cactus. The majority of these plants grow in arid environments where they store water to survive for long periods without rain. Although the succulent is easy to care for, it can get crowded if you put too many plants together or don’t give them enough space to spread out their roots. You’ll want to avoid overcrowding them because this can lead to problems like rot and mould.

So, when you are deciding where to place your succulents, think about how much space they need. When planting a single plant, make sure the soil is loose enough for its roots to grow freely and there’s plenty of room between it and the other plant.

Get rid of insects

Your beautiful succulents are not safe from bugs. The most common culprits of infestation are ants, aphids and mealybugs. These little critters can quickly destroy your plants if left untreated.

Like many other plant lovers, you may be wondering how to remove these pests while keeping the environment as natural as possible for your succulent friends.

Luckily there are certain measures that you can take to help keep them happy without resorting to chemicals or pesticides which could harm both the environment and humans.

You can use soapy water or vegetable oil as an insect repellent, and you can also try adding a few drops of peppermint essential oil to the potting soil. Apart from this, try neem oil or insecticidal soap, which is available at most garden supply stores for a DIY solution.

In some instances, it might just be that your plants need more light. If this is the case, move them closer to a window or invest in grow lights!

Use fertilizers in the summer season

Succulents are a great choice for the home because they’re tough and can survive in low-light conditions. They’re also drought-tolerant, which makes them perfect for summer care when watering is limited. But succulents need fertilizer too!

Fertilizing your succulent plant will keep it healthy and happy all season long. You’ll want to fertilize early in the summer (before July) with a well-balanced time-release fertilizer. The best way to tell if your plants need more water or fertilizer is by looking at their leaves—if they’re not greening up as you would expect, then you know you need to make sure your succulents are getting both.

The ideal time for using fertilizers is within 24 hours of watering or misting the succulents so that the nutrients can be readily absorbed by the roots.

Keep your succulents clean

Succulents are easy to take care of and don’t need a lot of water or light. But, as with all plants, they do need some attention every now and then so that their leaves stay green and healthy. Wipe off the leaves with a clean damp cloth and water to remove dust or dirt. Additionally, if your succulent has a plump leaf or two, you can break them off to prevent it from being overgrown.

Final words

That’s all there is to it. With a little care, your succulents will thrive and help you decorate any room in your home. To create a beautiful arrangement with these plants, start by choosing the right size and colours of pottery (think tall and wide). Then add some pebbles or rocks at the bottom, then place four to six succulents in different sizes around it. Finally, fill up any empty space with more soil, so everything is balanced out when watering your new design!

Succulents are such beautiful plants, and they don’t need much care. Follow the steps we’ve outlined above to keep your succulent healthy and happy.
