Hosting a BBQ: 5 Rules to Follow for a Successful Party

Once the sun starts to shine, you might feel tempted to gather your family and friends to host a fun-filled summer BBQ.

After all, there’s nothing better than the smell of a fire burning and food grilling before sinking your teeth into a juicy burger.

If you plan to pull out your grilling tools this season, there is etiquette to follow when hosting a barbecue.

Don’t make any mistakes along the way. Read the following five rules to follow for a successful party.

  1. Confirm BBQ Numbers

The last thing you will want is to run out of food at a BBQ, which can lead to hungry, grumpy, and disappointed guests.

Before buying food and drinks, you must confirm who will attend your summer BBQ.

Give your loved ones a call or text to find out if they are coming to the party, as it will help you buy the right number of items for your guests.

  1. Cater to Non-Meat Eaters

BBQs aren’t only for meat, and you must cater to non-meat eaters, such as vegetarians, pescatarians, and vegans.

Halloumi burgers are a great pick for veggies and pescatarians, and you can pick up many authentic-tasting plant-based burgers from many stores nowadays.

Also, stock up on salads and hummus dips to ensure they have other options to eat at the party.

  1. Start the BBQ Before Your Guests Arrive

Your guests will likely arrive at a BBQ with rumbling stomachs, as they may have waited until the party to eat.

If you fire up the BBQ once they arrive, they may need to wait an hour or more until they can enjoy a tasty burger.

For this reason, start the BBQ before your loved ones arrive to ensure they don’t need to wait too long to eat.

Also, lay your table in advance, prep your grilling tools, and ensure everyone has a drink upon arrival. It will help you chat with guests while cooking food on the BBQ.

  1. Serve Non-Alcoholic Drinks Too

If you and your loved ones occasionally drink alcohol, you might want to make the event extra special by creating a fruity cocktail or stocking up on various beers and spirits.

Yet, you must serve non-alcoholic drinks to cater to designated drivers, tee-total guests, and those who aren’t in the mood to drink alcohol.

Provide your guests with various options to match their preferences, such as sodas and stilled drinks.

You could even offer a tasty refreshment during the BBQ by serving an ice-cold glass or pitcher of iced tea from coopertea.com.

  1. Have a BBQ Backup Plan

The sun might be shining, but there is no guarantee that torrential rain won’t strike and ruin your BBQ.

The weather can be unpredictable, even on a hot summer’s day, which is why you must have a BBQ backup plan.

For example, you might need to move the party inside and cook the food in your oven. Ensure you have enough seats to cater to all guests indoors.
