Gilbert Hartmann attained Eagle Scout rank. During his school years, Gilbert remained highly active in sports. He concentrated on track and baseball. Gilbert went to the University of Missouri School of Mines. He completed his graduation with a degree in Petroleum Engineering.
Gilbert remained a key member and ex-president of the Sigma Pi fraternity. Gilbert’s college education got interrupted for almost two and a half years due to World War II. Gilbert also became part of the Army Air Corps in the role of bombardier on B-24s in the Western Pacific arena and accumulated 35 missions and survived many accidents.
Soon after completing his graduation, he secured the job of an Evaluation Engineer for City Service Oil Company in Bartlesville. He later obtained a similar position with Chase Bank in New York City. During that time, Chase was the biggest lender to the oil and gas industry. He worked with oil and gas loans, mergers, and sales for leading oil and gas companies. Gilbert used to say “This is where he got the learning of oil and gas business.”
He was also hired for the position of Vice-President of the newly formed oil and gas division of Union Bank of California. He later worked as a financial oil and gas consultant and started working as a troubleshooter. He helped many companies and independent operators to gain financial stability.
After several visits to Oklahoma City, Gilbert and his wife Beverly shifted to California in 1966. He continued to work as a consultant from Oklahoma City. Gill remained in the oil business since 1947. He helped scores of oil companies and individuals open businesses both in Oklahoma and other states.
Gilbert Hartmann’s Family Life
Gilbert married Beverly and his loving wife died in 1997 after 34-years of togetherness. She had four daughters namely Verna Bullock, Cher, Georgeanne Bartylak, and a stepdaughter Diana Spahn.
Gilbert was a loving and caring man and he would always be remembered as a kind, generous, and loving man.
