Danielle Probert is the widower of the late Canadian ice hockey player Bob Probert. After Bob’s unfortunate passing Danielle didn’t let this get to her heart and she worked to spread happiness and joy as a Social worker. let’s know more about Dani’s life and know how she got where she is now.

Dani and Bob’s married life

Bob Pobert and Danielle Wood got married in 1993. Bob was 27 at the time and was playing for the Detroit Red Wings in the forward position. During this period Bob faced a slow form in his game with his peak years behind him and his legal issues were making headlines. Bob also suffered from alcoholism and was under rehab during most of professional career. Bob was always under supervision from his team or some healthcare professional, but none of these problems faded his personal life. Bob was working on his memoir with the famous author Kirstie McLellan Day but before the completion of the memoir, Bob suffered a heart attack and died, leaving Danielle with his four kids.

Dani’s life as Bob’s Widower

Danielle and Bob were a happy couple with four kids Jack, Tierney, Brogan and Declyn. One day while enjoying their picnic on a boating trip Bob had a heart attack. He passed away at the age of 45. Dani was concerned for her kids and she just couldn’t let Bob’s memories fade away and wanted to give hope to her children that she’s okay and they will be too.

Dani took it upon herself to complete Bob’s memoir and Tough Guy: My Life on the Edge was published on 26 October 2010 showcasing all aspects of Bob’s life. The book’s first chapter starts with Bob’s heart attack on the boat while his wife and kids are experiencing a traumatic event which they might never forget.

Dani also became heavily engaged in social work to help raise money for Hotel Dieu Hospital. Dani organized multiple bike rallies in Bob’s memory, as he also enjoyed riding his bike. The rallies are aimed at spreading awareness for heart conditions and alcohol addictions. The only year she didn’t organize the rally was in 2021 because of Covid. The recent 2023 rally attracted over 1200 riders.

Dani’s life’s work

The rallies she organized raised over $1.2 million for the Hotel Dieu Hospital. Dani worked on publishing her late husband’s memoir. Dani is raising her kids as a single mom and one of her kids, Jack is on the same path following the footsteps of his father to becoming an ice hockey player. She is active on social media to this day and working for this cause and keeping the memory of her late husband alive.

Conclusion

When Bob died of Heart attack Dani didn’t lose hope she needed to be strong not only for herself but also for her four kids. Dani took up social work to raise awareness for heart health and addiction. Instead of leading an easy life she made it her life’s mission to help others and avoid going through what she and her four kids went through. Dani’s dedication and enthusiasm is what her kids are also looking up to. Danielle Pobert lived a normal life but when adversity struck she not only survived but also rose up.
