As restrictions ease and we’re allowed out to explore, many of us will be planning staycations in the UK as there is still uncertainty about travelling. Here are the best places to visit for a holiday at home here in the UK.

Cornwall

Cornwall is famous for its beautiful beaches and amazing seafood. But not only that: Between picturesque coasts and nature, the perfect surfing spots and lots of different attractions you’ll find plenty of spots worth a visit in Cornwall.
Its winding country roads make it perfect for a visit by car, make sure to take in the scenic routes!

From award-winning fish and chips to clotted cream scones, Cornwall is great for your inner foodie. Some of the most famous television chefs have restaurants in Cornwall, and between Michelin-starred cuisine and classic Cornish pasties as well as Cornish cream tea everyone is bound to find something that suits their tastes.

For those who enjoy some action, there’s always the opportunity to catch a wave whilst surfing along those beautiful blue waters. With nearly 200 beaches around the coast, there are tons of surf spots where you can find some quality waves.
For beginners, there are also plenty of surf schools around so don’t be scared to give it a try! There are also plenty of spots for more experienced surfers to enjoy themselves.

Some parts of Cornwall have even received “Dark Sky Discovery Status” which means that it’s the perfect place to visit for avid stargazers and astronomers alike. If you’d like to see whether the stars are aligned, visit Carnewas, Cornwall – a beautiful spot for a peaceful night of watching the world go by.

Southampton

If you’re looking to travel to Southampton, there’s plenty of things to do. With endless amounts of walks through beautiful historical parks and a trip to the SeaCity Museum, you can learn all about the history of the city.

The SeaCity Museum will teach you everything you need to know about Southampton’s Maritime History. With the interactive model of the Titanic you’ll be able to learn a lot about its Crew and the impact its sinking had on Southampton.

There’s also a vibrant restaurant and bar scene here, full of gorgeous food and drinks right by the marina. The renowned Mayflower theatre is located here too and is the South’s biggest theatre showcasing touring productions and West End musicals.

The West Quay shopping centre is perfect for those who enjoy a bit of retail therapy. Located in the heart of the city, this centre is home to over 80 stores, so you’re bound to find something you like.
It’s the perfect experience for a day filled with shopping and fun – with over 50 cafés, bars and restaurants you’ll also be able to tantalise your taste buds and not feel peckish!
And if at the end of your shopping trip you still feel up for some more activities, you’ll be able to visit the Cinema, a Bowling Alley or even book in a trip to an escape room.

Lake District

The Lake District is a beautiful UK location that looks more like it belongs in a fairy-tale book. Fantastic for hikes and walking trails, you can explore the lakes by foot and be at one with nature.

The Lake District is also considered a UNESCO world heritage site, marvelled by many for its stunning views and relaxing atmosphere. With well preserved history and awe-inspiring stone circles, you can learn a thing or two during your stay.

Boasting 12 of the largest lakes in England and over 3000 kilometres of paths, every nature-lover is bound to find something that fits their taste. The epic mountains found in the Lake District are known as “fells”, some of them – like Scafell Pike, England’s highest mountain – can even be conquered. Reaching the summit is well worth the while though: When the weather is right, you are even able to see the Isle of Man!

Brave camping in the true British weather, or stay at one of many beautiful hotels, lodges and resorts located around the many windy hills and towns. You could even turn it into a spa weekend and treat yourself to some truly earned rest and relaxation.
