Matthias is the German equivalent of “Matthew. The name means “God’s gift”. It is an extremely popular name that German parents use. It has a lot of connections in the bible. 

Since the meaning of the name is literally “the gift of God”, it will be nice to name your child Matthias. It will show your baby boy that you consider him as a gift from God.
