When looking to enhance the aesthetics of the functionality of any home improvement project window shutters have always been a popular choice.

Shutters are versatile, they can be customized, and offer a host of benefits besides their design and practicality. In this article, we will take a closer look at the advantages and disadvantages of made to order window shutters.

Advantages.

  1. Enhanced Privacy and Light Control. Window shutters offer complete control over privacy and natural light allowed to flow into a living space. Homeowners can easily regulate the light entering the room. Shutters can be closed at night when there is minimal light and when privacy is most required. Shutters can be opened in the morning to allow an influx of natural light and perhaps closed again at midday when heat might be a factor.
  2. Energy Efficiency. Shutters insulate heat and provide an extra layer of protection to keep out hot or cold temperatures. In the winter we can prevent heat loss, and in the summer, we can prevent heat gain by using shutters in our home.
  3. Shutters can be tailored to suit the home with made to order designs. Size, colour, and specific preferences can be made to match the design of the home.
  4. Durable woods, vinyl, or composites are used to make quality built-to-last shutters meaning that the installation of shutters is a long-lasting investment.
  5. Noise Reduction. Shutters constructed of thick materials dampen external noises, providing a quieter indoor environment than traditional windows.

Disadvantages.

  1. High-quality custom-made window shutters can be relatively expensive in comparison to other window treatment options. The cost reflects the material, customization, and installation involved.
  2. Regular cleaning and maintenance is required to keep shutters looking pristine. Besides simply dusting shutters will require painting and staining to ensure longevity.
  3. Complex Installation. Proper installation of shutters requires expertise to ensure a good job. Improper installation results in a lack of alignment, and trouble down the line.

When updating windows it’s worth factoring in the U-Value of different types of window designs to see which is the best approach to add value to your home.

Why Window Shutters?

People choose made-to-order windows as part of their home renovation projects primarily for the customisation opportunities they offer. Each home is unique and shutters are an original way to make your home stand out from others. The regulation of light, sound, and heat is another big pull factor. Especially in hot countries, it is a definite advantage to be able to control the light and air in your living space.

In conclusion, made to order window shutters combine functionality with style offering a number of advantages that make them a popular choice among home improvement project managers. For investors in regions like Thailand, it is worth looking at investment incentives in the property sector.
