Tiny houses are the newest trend in eco-friendly and minimalist living and for good reason! These pint-sized abodes are not only super cute and Instagram-worthy, but they’re also highly practical, efficient, and sustainable.

Tiny house living is a great way to cut down on costs, declutter your life, and enjoy the great outdoors. However, if you’re not used to the size of these houses it can be a bit daunting to try and navigate them on your very first outdoor camping trip.

Of course, that doesn’t mean you have to give up your dream of living in a tiny house right away. They are perfect for weekend getaways and camping trips!

Here are our top 10 tips for tiny house camping:

  1. Opt for a solar-powered tiny house.

This is one of the best ways to go off-grid and enjoy the great outdoors without having to worry about your power supply running out. Solar-powered tiny houses are also more self-sufficient, which means you’ll be able to focus on enjoying your camping trip without any distractions.

  1. Do your research and choose a campground with the right amenities for your needs.

There are tons of different campgrounds out there, each with its own set of features and perks. You’ll want to choose one that has facilities that suit your needs as well as the size of your tiny house. For example, if you’re bringing pets or kids along for the trip, it’s important to find a campground that allows these types of guests.

  1. Pack smart and make sure you have everything you need before leaving home.

This tip is crucial whether you’re planning a camping trip in your tiny house or not. It’s always good to be over-prepared, so make sure you have everything from extra batteries and flashlights to water bottles and snacks packed up before heading out.

  1. Simplify your cooking and dining setup as much as possible.

Since space is a premium in tiny houses, it’s important to keep things streamlined when it comes to food prep and meal times. Consider using lightweight yet durable cookware that can easily be cleaned up, or bring along small appliances like a mini crockpot or single-serve coffee maker for easy meals on the go.

  1. Go slow with your tiny house camping plans if it’s your first time out.

While many people jump right into the deep end when it comes to camping, it’s often best to start small and work your way up. If you’re new to tiny house camping, consider spending a night or two at a friend’s house first before venturing out into the wild on your own.

  1. Bring along plenty of storage containers for all your gear.

From clothes and shoes to dishes and food, everything needs a place in your tiny house. Be sure to pack plenty of plastic bins and storage containers to keep things organized while you’re away from home.

  1. Make use of natural lighting as much as possible during the day.

Not only will this help you save on power, but it will also make your tiny house feel more spacious and airy. You can put up window shades during the day or simply open your windows and curtains to increase your exposure to natural light.

  1. Take advantage of any outdoor spaces you have, such as a patio or porch.

Many tiny houses come with an attached deck or patio space that’s perfect for spending time outdoors. Consider setting up camping chairs, a small table, and even a grill so you can enjoy meals outside on those warm summer nights.

  1. For longer trips, consider renting additional storage space in advance.

If you’re camping in your tiny house for several weeks or months at a time, you may need some extra storage space to keep all your stuff safe while you’re away. You can typically rent space from a nearby self-storage facility, or use sites like Airbnb to find someone in the area who is willing to let you stash your belongings for a small fee.

  1. Have fun and enjoy all the benefits of tiny house camping!

Whether you’re exploring nature during the day or just relaxing with friends and family at night, there are plenty of great things about tiny house camping. Embrace what this new way of life has to offer and have fun doing it!

As you can see, there are tons of amazing things about tiny house camping – from its practicality and sustainability to its many social and environmental benefits. So what are you waiting for? Get out there, embrace your inner minimalist, and start camping!
